Pablo Escobar
Pablo Escobar, one of the most powerful, fearful and wealthiest man in history. Escobar was listed by Forbes magazine as the seventh richest man in the world in 1989. Born in the ghetto of Medellin, one of the largest city in Colombia, Escobar started his criminal career off as a small time gang member and a car thief. His small time crimes wouldn't compare for what he had in store. In the late 1970's Escobar and his Medellin cartel became one of the most dominate crime organizations in history. The cartel consolidated the cocaine industry, basically making it a monopoly, controlling as much as 80 percent of cocaine worldwide.
Before entering the drugs world in the 70′s, Escobar was involved in lesser various other criminal activities. He would go from stealing cars and selling contraband cigarettes to kidnapping. It didn’t take long for him to discover that the real money and power was in trafficking cocaine. The process was simple: He would import the paste of coca leaves in Bolivia and Peru, the reasoning being coca in Colombia was of inferior quality at the time. He would then refined it in Colombia on one of his properties and afterwards export it to the US. First this was done in small quantities, human trafficking for hidden in old plane tires. But under the influence of professional smugglers like Carlos Lehder and George Jung, Escobar's empire would grow.
George Jacob Jung, commonly referred to as Boston George, was one of, if not the biggest cocaine smuggler ever. In the 1970s and early 1980s Jung was a very important piece of the famous Medellin Cartel, which was responsible for over 89 percent of all the cocaine on the US market. Our United States government tells us that he was a cold-blooded, atrocious criminal that ruined and took the lives of countless number of innocent victims which is true. But On the other hand, by some, especially the working class and lower class of his country, he is seen as a very well-thought-of human being who made exceptional contributions and gave back freely to the community genuinely out of his good will to better the lives of the poor and less fortunate then him. Also, Escobar came from the very poor and made something out of his life, and although what he did was illegal and not the ideal way to make money, he used a large portion of his proceeds towards good causes.
