As one would think, the last fifteen hours of my project would come quickly. However, these hours, while annoying, were able to produce $28,000 for the Amarillo Children’s home.
After the planning stage of the auction and making the tickets, my mentor instructed me to go to the PHS Senior Auction to observe their processes, in an effort to expedite the check-in and check-out process. In doing so, I found out that Mr. Kennedy was in charge of the automated inventory of items, a task which would greatly help the auction. A couple of weeks after the PHS auction, I tried to talk to Mr. Kennedy in his class but could not find him. After that I left him notes in his box in the office and emails on his school account, yet he never responded. In order to create this inventory, each day I would go home and watch videos on youtube discussing the various functions of Excel and how to use them. After learning plenty about Excel, I created the inventory and while the automated functions of the program made it easy to create the basis of the inventory, notarizing the names and descriptions of over a hundred items took several hours. After completing the inventory the night before the auction, I went to my mentor in an effort to help with the live auction. With the live auction I put together centerpieces which would sit on the center of each bidder table which then could be bought and produce more money for the children’s home. After that, I began loading the four cars ,which were to be taken to the Twin Creeks home, with the materials for the auction: Silent and Live Auction items, wine for the donors, the centerpieces, the posters for sponsor and donor companies, and the printer and computer I needed to print out the Silent Auction
