There are many different qualities to consider when choosing a dog. Pit Bulls have all the qualities needed to become a great companion. Although, if you treat them wrong when they're growing up there is a good chance they will get out of control. If you raise them right you will have one of the best dogs ever. For example my friend had a Pit Bull that he would hit for no reason and one-day the dog attacked him and hurt him pretty bad. This is a good example of why you should treat your dog right. From my experience raising a Pit Bull I have come to believe they are the best bread of dog. As with any dog you need to raise and treat them right. Naturally they are loyal, smart, strong and courageous.
One characteristic of a good dog is loyalty. Loyalty is obviously a good characteristic to have in a dog because you want your dog to protect you and be by your side. Pit Bulls are very loyal and faithful dogs. For instance I have a 14-week-old Pit Bull that I am raising now and unlike most puppies that will just run away from you when you walk out side, my dog will walk right next to me even without a leash. He also gets defensive and barks when some one comes to my house or knocks on the door. He barks at the window when people walk by my apartment. He is very protective. Whenever I go to sleep he comes and sleeps right next to me. When he was little and could not jump on the bed he would sit and cry until I brought him up on the bed. Wherever I am sitting in my house he will come sit next to me or lay down by me. Even when I am in the shower he sits outside the shower and waits for me.

All the traits I have listed you can find in a many breeds of dogs. However, Pit Bulls are my favorite dog so that is why I think they are the best breeds. Once again if you raise them right you will definitely have a good dog. With all these traits you will not only have a good family dog but also a good guard dog. Some people abuse the strength of Pit Bulls by fighting them, therefore giving Pit Bulls a bad name. People also inbreed Pit Bulls to create a superior fighting dog. However, the outcome of this is most likely a crazy dog that is unable to be trained and should not be kept as a pet. This issue is very publicized so many people believe Pit Bulls are a vicious breed. If you spend some time around Pit Bulls you will see that these stereo types are not true. With all these traits together I hope I have proved my point that Pit Bulls are the best dogs.

The misrepresentation of Pit Bull breeds in the media has been reflected in American culture. As these dogs were incorporated into World War I propaganda, they were perceived as symbols of courage and strength, the archetype of American dog breeds5. When, in the 1920s and 1930s, American Staffordshire Terrier “Pete the Pup” starred in the comedy Our Gang, later known as The Little Rascals, Pit Bulls were considered “nanny dogs” and family-friendly pets7. When the media focused heavily on illegal dog fighting rings and gang culture in the 1970s and 1980s, Pit Bulls were called demonic and unpredictable. Through their many roles, they have shown versatility and resilience, and lately they have suffered greatly.
Pit Bulls are without a doubt my favorite dog, I adore them. Pit Bulls are very well tempered, loyal, and resilient animals. Bred for big game hunting, Pit Bulls are strong, fierce animals and people who have the wrong intentions for ownership should never own them. I am a strong believer that a potential pet owner should do lots of research before getting any type of animal, without exception. Owners should do as much research before getting a dog as they do in planning for a new home or any other new family member. One of the main things to really think about and understand is your intentions for your selection of an animal with the breeding of the Pit Bull. If you choose a dog with the wrong intentions, specifically a Pit Bull, you will get a dog that behaves aggressively and is dangerous. This owner behavior is what has caused the current plight of the Pit Bull today, where laws have been passed in thirteen states and hundreds of municipalities, as well as every U. S. Military base, banning the ownership of the breed and forcing shelters to euphonize Pit Bulls within 24 hours. These laws are unjust and cruel, and victimize the breed based on the owners’ behavior. I also argue that the blame for the epidemic proportions that the laws have reached is 100% the fault of owners who purposely acquired the Pit Bull with the intention to abuse and fight the dogs, and that these owners are the ones who should be punished, not the dogs. The way the dog is raised rounds out their character and general temperament. According to the “American Temperament Test Society: Pit bulls pass temperament tests 84.1% of the time, which ranks them slightly better than golden retrievers (83.8%) and cocker spaniels (81.7%), and well above miniature schnauzers (78.6%),” (The Biting Truth). Myths have generated atrocious attitudes towards this breed for years. The nature of the dog is a protector to children and the bulky build of pit bulls makes them a very easy breed to target. These opinions have severely skewed the reputation of pit bulls that were originally bred to be nanny dogs and take care of small children....
If the guard dog is the sweetest dog in the world, people would still stay away because of the breed. All breeds of dogs are territorial. They want their own place to call home, and they do not want to share their home with other animals. It is a trait all dogs have, but people notice it in pit bulls more than the other breeds. Pit bulls are very loyal to their family, so they will protect their family at all costs. They are very active and can outrun many people with their speed and stamina. If a pit bull is trained as an attack dog, their stamina and speed can be scary. If someone is trying to attack a family member of a pit bull, the pit bull will defend them with its life. They are very loyal to those they love. Their loyalty is what makes them good guard dogs. They can guard anything if their owners teach them to. Armando Christian Perez, otherwise known as Pitbull, was born in Miami, Florida on January 14, 1981. At a young age his parents divorced and he was raised by his mother until she found out about his drug dealing business. Once his secret was revealed his mother placed him in the foster system and he then grew up with a family in Roswell, Georgia. He went to school at Coral Park High School, where he graduated and made the tough decision to not continue on to college. Pitbull persued his rapping dreams until he was noticed by a famous rapper and from there his career really began. Pitbull is most prominent for his rapping, but he has also played parts in many movies and has developed his own school.
The study found that the dogs possessed excellent social skills and the ability to communicate competently and to solve conflicts (132-137). These studies help to prove the group of breeds that fall into the pit bull classification do not have a genetic predisposition to violence and actually have a great temperament. The first study even shows that they have a better temperament than the average breed. It is the bad owners that give the pit bull a bad name.
Some people think pitbulls are mean and will hurt you. You must think of the place and the breeder. It is best to get one as a puppy so you can train it to be whatever you want just not a fighter. One of the many reasons for the purchase of these dogs is so that it 's owner can "maintain their tough image" in which they encourage the dogs to be rather aggressive. Since the dogs are now being trained to be aggressive, it causes them to believe they’re doing what they’re supposed to be doing because they were raised to fight.
Most pit bulls that have been trained and around people and other dogs are fine. One of the main myths about pit bulls is that they have lock jaw that was proven false the just have really strong muscles in their mouths.
An increasing number of pit bull attacks have occurred over past decade. People who are attacked by pit bulls always suffer serious injuries because of the pit bulls’ sharp teeth and strong muscles. In October 19, 2009, Dr Hugh Wirth who is the RSPCA’s Victorian president renewed calls for American pit bull terriers to be bred out of Australia. The current laws require owners of pit bulls to register their pit bull. While some people are satisfied with the laws because they think that they are safe, others disagree. From my own perspective, the laws should be improved. The government should ban these fierce dogs and wipe them out instead of just registering them. In my opinion, there are three reasons why I am in favour of Dr Wirth’s proposal.

Pit bulls have been around since the Civil War, when American’s immigrated them. Since then, pit bulls seemed friendly. But over the years, these pit bulls have become very dangerous. Some can be found to be laid back, while others can be more temperamental. These dogs are always looking for something to do and should be put in a home where they can look forward to daily activity, exercise and training. Although these dogs can be mistaken for aggressive and even sometimes dangerous, these dogs will grow to be what they are brought up to be.
