1. Describe the ACCULTURATION level of at least 2main/lead film characters. Elaborate as to which factors led you to make these determinations for each character.
Minimum 100 original words. 5 points possible Character #1 Oskar Schindler is played by actor Liam Neeson who is presented as an opportunistic German who strategically places himself within the social society of the Nazi Military’s highest officers. I noticed that Schindler seems to go through acculturation of various degrees twice throughout the movie. First, Oskar Schindler is seen going through selective acculturation in order to profit from the war. This acculturation includes physical, economic, social and political changes. His beliefs are of indifference toward the Jews and he is only out to make a profit. He puts on the Nazi pin, places himself in pictures that are being taken of military officials, and he wines and dines them until he becomes one of them. After Oskar Schindler witnesses the mass murders of Jews in the Ghetto, the little girl in the red jacket and finds out that the Jews considered his factory a haven of safety, …show more content…

The entire movie was full of extreme racism against the Jewish people in Europe. This racism lead to the genocide of nearly six million Jewish men, women and children. The Nazis’ believed that Germans were the superior race while the Jewish were inferior and thus they needed to remove them. Most of the movie was filled with brutal events due to racism. The SS soldiers mocked the Jewish man for saluting them when he was pretending to clear the roads as to avoid getting caught trying to escape. The SS officer Amon Goeth standing on a balcony shooting random Jews for sitting down, tying their shoe or not working fast enough. A more subtle hint of racism was shown when a blonde little girl was yelling “Goodbye, Jews!” with the look of disgust on her face while of non-Jews threw mud as they walked
