While researching instructional strategies on edutopia.com, I came across the article entitled “Oracy in the Classroom: Strategies for effective Talk”. The article talks about one of the London elementary schools where teachers focus their instruction on developing oracy skills by integrating strategies for effective talk in the classroom. Teachers in that school provide students with discussion guidelines and roles, and structured talk tasks. The first thing I noticed about conscious teaching oracy skills is that activities need to be structured.
