Self-determination is a person's belief in their right to decide for themselves. People who possess effective self-determination skills are more inclined to transition into adulthood successfully. Self-determination is a combination of factors that allows a person to be more decisive in life. The skills involved with self-determination; like goal setting, problem solving, and decision making, enables a person to understand one's own strengths and limitations, as well as provide a stronger belief in one's capabilities (Bremer, Kachgal, & Schoeller, 2011). Self-determined individuals exhibit autonomy, self-regulation, psychological empowerment and self-realization (Lam, 2016). According to Shogren (2011), self-determination utilizes individual purpose in achieving positive life outcomes. As cited by Wehmeyer et al., (2011) there are variables like age and life stages, gender, culture, religious beliefs and spirituality and experiences of oppression, segregation and discrimination that can affect individual in order for them to be self-determined. A competency specifically teaching competency is determined as the level of integration of skills, wisdom, and behaviors. It is servered as a standard on how teaching should be performed within a particular measure of passable level. However, often studies about teachers' competency are being extremely examined today. Since, imposing student learning to identify how efficient the instruction among student targets depend on how competent a teacher is. In addition, possessing this kind of standards for teachers prepared higher quality performance of right classroom assessment.
