Reverse-Role Universe In many films, both men and women are sexualized, but sexualizing women goes beyond the movie screen. According to the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, “91% of the victims of rape and sexual assault are female, and 9% are male,” many of which could have been due to the way women are represented in many forms of media. Demonstrated in a French film, titled Oppressed Majority, is a world ran by women (much to the contrary of our world today). This short film was published and directed by Eleonore Pourriat, who is also a French actress and screenwriter. Paula Cocozza, a writer for The Guardian, reflects on the short film. The main character in the short film is Pierre. Pierre is pursuing his normal day, but is disrupted multiple times by women yelling harsh and provocative words at him. One particular instance is when a group of women approached him and physically and sexually assault him. The women had held him at knife point and aggressively bit his genitalia. The police officer who took his final statement (a woman, of course) ridiculed him by repeating his statement back to him “to check for accuracy” (Cocozza).
