Thank you for contacting me with regards to President Obama's policies and the impeachment process. It is an honor to represent the people of Ohio’s Eighth Congressional District, and I appreciate the opportunity to learn your thoughts on this issue. Like you, I am deeply concerned by a number of events that have taken place under the watch of the Obama Administration -- from the attacks in Benghazi to the targeted audits by the IRS on conservative groups. It is Congress' obligation to fully investigate these incidents and to hold those responsible accountable for any potential wrongdoing. It then rests with the Senate to conduct an impeachment trial and to vote on whether the official should be removed from office. The initiation of impeachment proceedings is not something I take lightly. Our Founders recognized that impeachment may be necessary to ensure our laws are enforced, our oaths of office are honored and the public trust in their government is not diminished. Such a proceeding should not be politicized and should reflect the somber task at hand in reviewing actions that may rise to the level of "treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors". Please know that I will be sure to keep your concerns in mind as Congress continues its work of oversight and in holding this Administration
