Nostradamus and Leonardo Da Vinci
Nostradamus and Leonardo Da Vinci are two of the world’s most intelligent, amazing, highly achieved men that have been followed and questioned throughout history. They have changed time and left many people wondering what was true or false throughout their work and lives that existed hundreds of years ago. Although they lived in different countries and different times, they are both very similar through their work, genius ness, and minds.
Both men were born in Europe in the fourteen and fifteen hundreds and studied with their grandfathers. Nostradamus was born in 1503 in France and was born Jewish but forced to Catholicism due to a religious reform. “Growing up he spent much of his time learning several languages, math, astronomy, and astrology from his grandfather, Jean” (Keyes). He had then gone to school for liberal arts and medicine and had even treated many victims of a plague.
Leonardo was born in 1452 in Anchiono, Italy where he lived with his father and stepmother. He later moved to Vinci to stay with his grandfather and then traveled to Florence to have a greater education. “There he learned to write, to read and to calculate. Also he was taught in geometry and Latin” (Kausal).
Although they used their studies in different ways, they had studied many of the same topics. Nostradamus had written in French, Italian, Greek and Latin in his many quatrains, as Leonardo spoke and wrote in French, Italian and Latin in his many journals. On the scientific subject, Nostradamus had his own practice in medicine and treated plagues, and Leonardo had held his own autopsies and studied the human body through medicine practice, drawings, and intense detail of the human form.
Nostradamus had become a prophet through religion, astrology, and astronomy predicting the future while writing a series of quatrains. Many people relate his writings to events that have happened in this day in age, while most of it does scarcely match his predictions. His work is questionable because it can relate to much of what has happened with the world long after his death. Many wonder how he could predict things and mention certain words and names that were never even heard of until hundreds of years after him.
Leonardo studied astronomy and astrology for knowledge of space and time for his inventions that we now have in the twentieth century. Leonardo is believed to have predicted the future through his many designs of guns, war tanks, bombs, planes, helicopters and much more.
Nostradamus lived in the 16th century in France. He was a healer of the black plague, which was an incredible pandemic that struck Europe, killing thousands. But when his wife and two children died of it, he went in to seclusion and started writing his “visions.” He wrote them in verses of four that are called quatrains.
His incredibly important discoveries would’ve changed the European knowledge on the subject. His papers were untouched and unseen by the outside world for almost 400 years. Leonardo was very interested in the human body. His fascination led him to many hospitals and morgues around Florence. He performed dissections of the human body and even took part in executing criminals. He became incredibly close to revealing how blood circulation worked. One of his most famous anatomical drawings was of a hundred year old man who seemed to be in perfect health just hours before he passed away. The body was then dissected by Leonardo in hopes of determining the cause of death. It was found that the man had cirrhosis of the liver and a blockage in an artery in his heart. This became known as the first description of coronary vascular occlusion.
Following centuries of a powerful church, chivalrous knights, and harsh struggles, emerged a season of rebirth, rediscovery, and revival. Characterized by humanistic ideals, the Renaissance period marked a new style of art and literature and fresh appreciation of the body and nature. The pinnacle of the period occurred from 1500 to 1520, an era concentrated in Italy and known as the High Renaissance. Two prominent faces of the time were Leonardo da Vinci, painter of the acclaimed, “Mona Lisa,” and Michelangelo Buonarroti, sculptor of the jaw-dropping, “Pieta.” As the Renaissance spread North, Jan van Eyck, gifted artist of the “Arnolfini Wedding,” entered the public eye as well. Gradually, the study of mortal man replaced the study of the Almighty

Leonardo art work, invention, and thirst for knowledge show it an overwhelming desire wanting to learn more. His head was spinning with ideas to create something better, making something beautiful, and about how the human body works. His curiosity was so impressive that he would stay awake for hours on end hoping to change his theory and prove that there is more to changing to something magnificent. ...nturies later. Leonardo Da Vici was a great thinker and he was way ahead of his time in what he did and if it wasn't for some of the things he did then we as a civilization wouldn't have some of the things we have now. His works has greatly influenced the world today and has changed the way people do things.
By going out and having himself “happen” to the world, Leonardo became one of the most influential artists, inventors, and scientists of all time.
Economy and materialism are concepts that come up every day in the life of Americans. Those who are not from America may think the way Americans live is strange and wasteful and they’d be right in their thinking that. Americans are consumed by consumerism and the need to buy things because there is always some new and improved version of what was purchased two weeks ago. Although it is said that Americans are too materialistic, the truth is that materialistic does not quite cover the near obsession with the latest and greatest that Americans have.
Shakespeare has been around for centuries and will continue to be around for many more centuries to come. With the current day and age, Shakespeare is still relevant in today’s time. It is especially more relevant to young adults in this age of time. Shakespeare’s plays are a classic that can be interpreted in many ways. The human nature and human behavior has not changed, but only the motivating factors and conditions through time.
Leonardo Da Vinci is a famed artist today due to his renowned painting of the ‘Mona Lisa’. In the 14th century, people of Venice would have known him as an engineer, people of Milan would have known him for his Last Supper, but only the people of Florence would have seen his whole character. Da Vinci is known as the archetypal Renaissance man, a man of “unquenchable curiosity” and “feverishly inventive imagination”. Da Vinci created many technologies and new innovations which were so advanced for his time and age that many scholars did not believe him. He contributed to civilisation through three main areas: art, science and engineering.
Leonardo Da Vinci was one of the greatest critical thinking minds of his time. One could define Mr. De Vinci as a disciplined person that used his assess to valid his work and artistic views to the public. As definition for a critical thinker is someone who thinking that is clear, rational, open-minded, and informed by evidence. Just from the thought of exploring what a critical thinker is, it simple to say we all are thinker.
Leonardo da Vinci was one of the greatest mathematicians to ever live, which is displayed in all of his inventions. His main pursuit through mathematics was to better the understanding and exploration of the world. He preferred drawing geographical shapes to calculate equations and create his inventions, which enlisted his very profound artistic ability to articulate his blueprints. Leonardo Da Vinci believed that math is used to produce an outcome and thus Da Vinci thought that through his drawings he could execute his studies of proportional and spatial awareness demonstrated in his engineering designs and inventions.
Leonardo da Vinci greatly impacted world history by his artwork, inventions, and discoveries in science.Around the world da Vinci has impressed and amazed people by his gift in artwork. Inventions were a common thing that he thought of and they always surpassed his time period intellectually. Discoveries and new ways of thinking don’t come very often, but under the thoughtful mindset of da Vinci they do, the genius of the 14th century.
