Immigrants come to America because they are looking for a better life. But with them, they brought their culture and ideas. Thanks to them, America is a melting pot is a better country. They inspired thousands and revolutionized our country. Without them our country would be far different then it is now. Our country’s technology, science, and entertainment has been positively impacted by immigrants. One man that has been credited with changing American technology is Elon Musk. He immigrated to America from South Africa when he was 17 and has been making millions ever since. In his late 20s, he sold his first company, Zip2, for $305 million. He was an inventor who made many things that are used in our daily life today. His biggest major breakthrough was discovered Alternating current. Some believed that AC was far dangerous to have in their homes, but he proved them wrong when he sent AC through his body and animal´s bodies and proved that it was safe. Nikola Tesla's discovery of Alternating Current is still used today to provide power to the United States. Another famous invention he made was the radio. The radio has been used ever since it has been invented. It was a luxury to have when it was first released, but they are now common items. They are in every car to play music or play talk shows which have made car rides much more pleasant. Afterwards, Tesla created the remote control. The inventor made a remote-controlled boat to demonstrate his breakthrough but, this had little use at the time (West). Now, they control everything from military tanks, fighter jets and boats to kids toy cars. The brilliant inventor also played a big role in discovering X-Rays. The reason why he wasn’t credited with discovering it is because almost all of his work was destroyed when his laboratory in New York burned down. He was the first to bring up the possibility of x-rays hurting us if we are unprotected from it’s radiation, in addition to discovering it (Hrabak, Maja et. al).
