My Role Model

“Every day, we are each given an opportunity to be a role model. The choices we make change so much more than just our own lives.” - Anonymous. Everyone obtains role models in their lives. People aspire to be their role models and live like them through their examples. Throughout my life, I acquired numerous role models, and they come in all sorts of ways like movies, tv shows, and even real life and their stories deeply impacted me, myself as a child and as a teenager. The first role model that zipped his way into my life at the age of six was the supersonic speedster, Dash, from the Pixar movie, The Incredibles. Over the course of the movie, however, Dash develops into a brave young man that puts himself last for others. He uses his power to not only save his sister on several occasions, but to save Metroville when the villain, Syndrome, attempts to destroy the city. Possibly the characteristic that sticks out the most that Dash exemplifies, occurs at the end of the movie when he chooses to finish second in a track meet instead of abusing his power to win first place. His comical remarks combined with his kind-heartedness, as well as being fast, he established a very strong personal bond with me. Jim Halpert, a paper salesman from Dunder Mifflin, showed up in my life as a role model when I was just eight years old. Of course staying up later than the average eight year old’s curfew was something looked to as absurd, but watching the hit television show, The Office, on Sunday nights with my parents I made some of the best memories as an eight year old. Jim Halpert starts out in the series as a paper salesman at Dunder Mifflin in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He slowly falls in love with the receptionist Pam Beesley. Before Jim can ask
