In a complex technical world the human eye doesn’t always distinguish reality from fantasy. Luckily, we have role models who guide us through life in the most positive of ways. My two oldest sisters, Brynnan and Ciarrin embody the meaning of role model and through example, have modeled my own leadership skills, academic skills, and character into becoming the best person I can be. Ciarrin “yelling wolf” is a vocal leader. She uses verbal encouragement to help others never lose hope and trust the process. Everyday she continues to tell me to strive for greatness and that I'm capable of many things. As a 9th grader during the Cross Country season Ciarrin developed a stress fracture in her ankle and by the end of the season her coach and
In this vignette, the client and social worker begin a new session at the point where the last left off. Kirsten, a college student, has come to this private practice setting to discuss her experiences, fears, and difficulties with coming out, particularly after her previous coming out experiences. In the previous sessions, the worker and Kirsten have explored many themes revolving around coming out, her experience coming out to her neighbor, and Kirsten’s anxieties about talking with her sister. The role of the social worker in this vignette is to discuss possible options with Kirsten as she moves toward talking with her sister, engaging in role play Kirsten has requested, and exploring Kirsten’s feelings about the upcoming meeting with her
Imagine finding out your boyfriend is cheating on you with your best friend. Your best friend doesn’t tell you because she wants to save you from a heartbreak, but she wants you to forgive her for stabbing you in the back. You focus your negative energy into your work, only to be told you can’t accomplish anything on your own. Brooke Davis, a female character from One Tree Hill, and Blair Waldorf, a female character from Gossip Girl, are two women that went through these difficulties without giving up. Blair once said, “If you really want something, you don’t stop for anyone or anything until you get it.” Brooke and Blair go through many lessons throughout their life on the show, becoming positive role models for viewers. While Brooke Davis and Blair Waldorf live two completely different lifestyles, Brooke and Blair are both confident, forgiving, and resilient.
Role models come in all shapes and sizes. In the epic poem The Odyssey, written by Homer, Odysseus faces many challenges in which he has to use certain traits of his to overcome his problems. Odysseus is a good role model because he is brave, intelligent, and unwavering.
Cortina Peters appears to be a highly energetic and organized Clinical Director at the Orlando Recovery Center. She has a deep passion to help and empower individuals to reach their full potential in life. Her job entails the coordination of clinical care services in the capacity of a case manager for three rehabilitation centers in Orlando, Maitland, and Umatilla, Florida. Her responsibilities don’t come close to ending with ensuring that all of their clientele receive the care they need; she is also responsible for program content and management of the clinical staffs. Other responsibilities that fall under these major responsibilities include: (1) the recruitment, hiring, and firing and evaluating of master level clinicians, (2) the
True role models are those who possess the qualities that we would want to have in the near future and those who interest us in a way that make us want to be a better person. They teach us more about ourselves and encourage us to make better choices. A role model is not just someone who is successful, but someone who has had similar experiences that we have had. In the novel To Kill A Mockingbird, Harper Lee demonstrates that Atticus Finch is a true role model. Over the course of the novel, Atticus stands up for his beliefs, respects everyone despite who they are and behaves as a true father. Atticus is truly the ideal role model.
Maddie Gardner, one of the most famous cheerleaders in the All-Star cheerleading world. A.K.A – a “Cheerlebrity.” I first found out about Maddie through a video on CNN my friend sent me, and ever since, I’ve always looked up to her as an idol! Amanda Calkins is someone that very few people would consider a role model. A twenty one year old girl in culinary school who doesn’t have much to her name other than a beat up yellow volkswagen beetle, a cat named Dinah, and her weekly pack of marlboro red cigarettes that she carries around in her black leather purse. She is always running late, constantly swearing, and has the most unpredictable temper. Her skin is white as the snow, and her edgy black shaggy hair frames her face giving off a very mysterious look. Tattoos and piercings cover her rawboned and angular body, and her baggy clothes make her look all skin and bones. She is a very independent woman who doesn’t let the thoughts of anyone else interfere with her life and has always seemed to have a craving for rebellion and adventure.
First, think as far back as you can about yourself. Growing up to become the men and women you are today, there must have been influencers or role models in your life. You would consider that some of these role models to positively shaped out your life today. But, many children of my generation could say the same for themselves. This problem, on its own, is to blame for the constant generational decline present in our society today.
Role models can make a huge difference in a child's life. My Physical Education teacher had a major impact of effecting of what I want to be now. Aleta Jo Crotty helped me to learn to take responsibility for my actions, and in my choices I am in control. By using guidelines that was set by her for my life, I hope to reach just one child.
The first one is my paraprofessional, Carrie Gebhardt. Miss Carrie has been with me since I was in Pre-K. She teases me and says that she and I are just like an “old married couple” because we’ve been together so long--we know each other inside and out! That always makes me laugh. I think Miss Carrie is a good example of a leader for me because she makes me work hard at school, even when I’d rather be watching ESPN Sports Center on my phone. She encourages me to do my best and won’t let me turn in sloppy, lazy work. Miss Carrie brings out the best in me, and I think that’s what good leaders are supposed to do. My dad is my other good leadership role model. At times, he is very hard on me in regards to my behavior. He tells me: “do what you’re told to do, when you’re told to do it, to the best of your abilities, every time.” He says that’s called self-discipline. Good leaders need that. He has also had lots of talks with me about how to treat other people. My dad is one of the friendliest people I know. He is always talking to folks, especially after church. My mom says he has good people skills. I want to be like that. Good leaders know how to make the people around them feel good about themselves. They will then feel worthy and valuable, which will probably make them work harder at their job or cause. Both Miss Carrie and my dad are good leadership role models for me on a daily basis. I hope I can become good leaders and examples like them
On your journey, there will always be different sets of footprints to follow, and those footprints will lead you to a destination that can be negative or positive. Likewise, role models can have positive and negative effects in your life but you can choose who to follow.
In our lives, we all have that one person that we do not know much about and they are involved in our life and influencing it. That person who is a role model and always wanted to know more about them and what kind of stories behind them that made them that strong, or have the personality that they have now. Many time we start asking people about their lives and how they lived it, sometime asking what they been through in their life. How was there childhood like, in what environment they lived in. That person to me is my grandmother. She is such a strong person and have a really strong personality. She went through many things in her life that will make a montane bow from all the things that went through her life and still stayed strong and
For a majority of children their most important role models are their parents. In this case Sierra Tierwater admired almost everything about her father, he was without a doubt her number one role model. Ty Tierwater could not have been more proud of the woman his daughter had become, she lived and served for protecting the earth. Sierra spent her last years standing up for what she believed in and died preserving it. The primary goal as a parent is to see that your child lives a happy life and even though Sierra retired this life early through a tragic accident it is very present that she lived a joy fulfilling life.
Many of us have role models in our lives and to most people role models are athletes and movie stars, but to me a role model is much more. To me a role model is a person who has positively influenced someone in life, and is not a person filled with selfishness and greed. They help shape someone’s personality, and characteristics. They are people who someone can look up to for advice in a hard situation, and know that they will give those words of wisdom. They will never judge our past actions, instead only look to help because they really care. A role model is someone who we should never feel awkward talking to about our problems. A perfect role model for me is my mother. She is a wonderful human being. She’s smart, wise, ambitious, patient and such a loving person. There are no words that can describe my gratitude towards her, but through this essay I will describe some of her characteristics that makes her my role model.
What if you had to answer the question, who is your biggest role model? Would you know the answer on the top of your head, or would you have to think about it? Everyone has their version of their perfect role model. The answer to these questions could be their best friend, family, or even someone as simple as a celebrity. For many people, it can be hard to decide who has had the biggest impact and their life and for what reasons. However, for me deciding my biggest role model is perfectly simple. My biggest role model is my father for many reasons, but the most primary reasons being his constant support, positive outlook on life, and his endless amount determination.
