My Reflection Of Education

“The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education” (Martin Luther King). My education developed my intelligence, attitude, and character. I am thankful to all the people who contributed to helping get to where I am today. I have many teachers, tutors, and role models that have influenced and assisted me in my scholarly journey. I owe it to them to become successful and to use there examples as educators for myself.
My early years were spent at the Walnut Park Montessori School in Newton, Ma. My next stages of my life were spent at the Jackson School in Newton, Ma. In the middle of the second grade I transferred to St. Tarcisius in Framingham, …show more content…

I am very grateful for being able to express my religion without being judged. Each of my schools was catholic, private, and small. I have been taught to be proud of myself and my faith. Through learning the rules of the classroom helped me gain knowledge of respect for each person I meet. Over the years of my education I have become quieter. My socialness in the classroom was getting in the way at times. Sometimes my teacher would move me or have me separate my desk. My interims and report cards would usually say “socializes at the wrong time or socializes too much during class”. My teachers have helped me gain confidence in my work over the years through praising and commenting on my work. For example, I remember in 8th grade there was a paper that I almost second guessed myself on. I was nervous about replacing a word with a word that I found in the thesaurus because I had never heard it before. The next day in class she talked about how she liked that I looked up a different word. I will never forget this moment because of how smart I felt. A moment as simple as praising a student can give them confidence for a lifetime. College is a whole new chapter in my education journey. I am confident in completing my college education. All my previous educational years have shaped how I can survive in college today. I try to be social on campus and welcome new friendships. Attending a small college has its benefits for the social aspect. Everyone almost knows everyone. It is hard to feel like an outsider even though sometimes that feeling comes
