As an intern at Goodwill Industries, I am a part of the resource center as a resource service assistant. I have several task right now until the second week of March. The position that I hold now ties into the other areas at Goodwill. I help clients with their computer skills. Many times people have come into the resource center and are experiencing being on the computer for the first time, some have taken the basic computer class at Goodwill, yet are not comfortable making a cover letter or resume. I help them in these areas. I also help them with email set up and sometimes I am there to listen to them tell their stories.
My learning objectives are geared towards helping them feel that each small task that they complete at the resource center

You have to address them individually and realize that their needs are individualized as well. I found out that in order to be an effective helper in the Goodwill industry, you have to meet the client where they are. Some are experiencing computer skills for the first time, some need to find sources that will get them on the right track such as GED courses, and some might just need a job to support their family. I realized that each time someone comes through the resource center doors, they are important and their needs …show more content…
I here that I am patient and pleasant to be around. We have talked about my future and just recently she said that she wants me around for a very long time. I feel good interning at Goodwill. It is not always easy dealing with so many different personalities and attitudes that come in to seek help, but it is rewarding to know that what I do is a service to others. I make it a point to come dressed professionally and well groomed. My supervisor complements me in that area. She admires my hard work and effort. I appreciate her professionalism and

Me: alright my next question is going to be, what are the challenges they have faced when they first started as a goodwill employee?!, within the first week of starting what are some of those challenges they faced?!
and most often become a challenge - as they usually don’t believe that they need services. Often they are potentially difficult to work with because they have not chosen to receive services, (Woodside & McClam, 2015). they are very resistant to accepting what others believe they need. Especially, those who are mandated to participate in a program. As a human service professional - your work is cut-out for you - as you must keep them fully engaged in order to be successful, as well as prove to them that you can assist them with
During my first week doing my internship at Department of labor of Veterans employment service (VETS), I was super excited to start because I know it was going to be an incredible experience working at a Federal government setting. In my first week being in the office I had to get all the paper work ready in order to be able start working for the government. For example, they will have to do a background check and copies of two of my personal documents. Furthermore, I had to do online questioners that is called E-Quip of which I had to create a password and username and also answer multiple questions about my background information and all the jobs activities that I had worked before. Furthermore, I also had to include three people that I know
1.... ... middle of paper ... ... There is a lot of work that indirectly helps, like filing, sorting clothes, and cutting vegetables, to be done at shelters and other service agencies. Think about what you do best and the kind of setting in which you work most effectively–with individuals or groups, with men, women, or children, and so on.
We need to effectively speak with our client about the issues they are having and properly let them know what we can do to help and what they can do. We need to properly relay information about things happening in their community that we want them to attend and speak to them on a deeper level about the problems they are facing and how to deal with those problems. It is important to know how to communicate in a group because sometimes Human Service Workers work with multiple clients at work and need to know how to work with all of them effectively. This is different from individual communication because each person needs to be accounted for and things that work with one person will not work for others so a worker needs to be able to balance every person’s individual problems and listen equally to all parties
The FAS has made changes throughout the years in the way to account for goodwill. Goodwill is when a company attempts to merge with another company to obtain the valuable intangible assets. These assets are anything that can 't be seen or touched. Valuable intangibles can be anything like a company name because it is well known. Many times companies will decide to merge because it can be beneficial to them to merge with well-known entities. This can also be less costly and less time-consuming versus building a brand new business on its own. On many occasions, gooodwill is amortized on accounting records. Amortization is not the most favorable approach for companies who are trying to attract investors. This because when amortization is not present in the books, it means that there aren 't high physical cash profits for shareholders.
Business internships are helping students gain real world experience while they are not actually out in the real world yet. Internships are becoming more and more popular with college students in today’s world. An internship is basically when a student in college goes to a company or business and works while they are still enrolled in school and still getting academic credit. The main purpose of the internship is for the student to gain valuable on the job work experience. But there are also other things that a student can get from internships. Internships help the student decide whether or not this line of work is correct for them. Since the student works in an occupation in which they are highly interested in it really helps them get a bigger picture of the outside world.
Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate those objectives to children.
This is a matter of pleasure for me to acknowledge my deep sense of gratitude to University Sains of Malaysia for giving me an opportunity to explore my abilities via this internship programme. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my academic supervisor, Dr. Amirul Shah for their valuable guidance and advice in completing this internship.
During this training I learned the best way to assist people while walking and getting from sitting to standing. I also learned how to operate transfer equipment such as hoists and slings. I feel that my time at the nursing home inspired me further to pursue a career in nursing. I am also taking part in a HNC Care and Administrations course at college this year which will give me more experience working in the care sector and will also give me a deeper understanding of the academic requirements of nursing. I currently volunteer at the Salvation army charity shop in Kilmarnock. As part of my duties I make sure the shop is tidy, help with the inventory, sort out new items to be put on the shop floor and assist with customers that require help. I also work on the till. I feel that this has given me the change to meet different people and has greatly increased my communication skills as well as giving me the opportunity to volunteer for an organisation that's helping to make a difference to peoples lives throughout the world. First, understanding that children may have a preferred learning style, she incorporates into her lesson plans the strategies which address visual learners, kinesthetic learners, and audio learners. Most children do not have just one learning style, therefore, they benefit through different learning centers. Learning centers include the science center, the math center, the art center, the library, the writing center, and the dramatic play center. Next, she uses teacher centered strategies to lead many of her lesson plans so that she can guide and coach the children through the activities. Since the children are very young, she feels modeling and coaching the children are the most productive techniques. She does try to create lesson plans that vary in complexity and challenge the children based on their own ability

Acknowledging and facilitating individual needs with resources that enrich the learning process. This could be attained by taking the classroom and the learning outside, to another classroom either in person or via Skype, inviting community members into the classroom to share information and to participate with children in the activities and learning opportunities (Claiborne, Morrell, Bandy & Bruff, 2014).
Throughout my internship, I was well trained and did receive a fruitful experience. The real working environment prepared me for future employment after my graduation. However, I did encounter some problems, which I gradually managed to deal with. Whatever happens, productivity increases by keeping a positive attitude.
