An allergic reaction to a medication led to a near-death experience that changed her life forever. The details of her struggles and the highlights of her life - both good and bad - are shared in her soul-expanding memoir, "My Life Is Not My Own"(published by AuthorHouse UK).
"My Life Is Not My Own" follows the two decades of Adejokun's life story. She writes about her past experiences, how God helped her rise again after a life-threatening illness and her reflections on these experiences.
"My book is about reaching out to the youths about what God has done for me in my life," says Adejokun, "more so to give them hope that no matter what trials and tribulations they may be facing there’s always hope in Christ."
Stevens-Johnson Syndrome became the turning point of the author's life. Having dealt with the agony of painfully peeling skin all over her body, she almost gave up. But what happened before she woke up to a second life set her on a mission for

After nearly half a century; after their deaths, the lifelong saga of the relationship between MLK and his cherished brother A. D. King comes to light. They were sons, they were brothers. They were husbands. They were fathers. They were leaders. They played together, they preached together, they marched together. They dreamed together. They cried together, they prayed together. And they rejoiced together. Deep from the heartfelt memories of Mrs. Naomi Ruth Barber King comes a love story. This is a love story of a modern day Boaz and Ruth. It is a love story of brothers who lived and died for a dream. It is a legacy love story. It is a love for family and community. It is a love of a God who so loved the world that he gave His Only Begotten Son; a love that two brothers lived and died for; still daring to
...the narrator and all people a way of finding meaning in their pains and joys. The two brothers again can live in brotherhood and harmony.
It's about sunlight. It's about the special way that dawn spreads out on a river when you know you must cross the river and march into the mountains and do things you are afraid to do. It's about love and memory. It's about sorrow. It's about sisters who never write back and people who never listen.” -pg. 85
The text consists of six well-illustrated sections, and epilogue, and a record of King’s arrests, and each of those sections shows a stage in King’s life. These sections show both sides of King, and are well-rounded in coving King’s inner motivations and his external impact. He developed a person of global renown, the author says about King, “It was in relation to him or in opposition to him that men defined themselves and their racial postures” (197). He also goes into detail about the motivations of Martin Luther King, Jr., and he shows how the ups and downs of King’s experiences in the civil rights movement affected King on a personal level. Bennett discusses how activists like Gandhi shaped King’s own goals as a leader as he evolved into the leader he was over the course of his life. The biography illustrates ho...
It reminds us of a time not so different from where we live now, a world filled with lies, hatred, and moral ambiguity. It’s a story that largely reminds us as humans who we are, prone to mistakes and preconceptions that can lead to disastrous results, but also capable of growth and redemption. This story really allows you to understand different philosophies, perceptions, and differing opinions of morality and
It’s the journey of a daughter taking it upon herself in trying to undo her mother’s mistake and attempts to fix the world as atonement.
This book was intriguing, fascinating, and balanced with a unique writing style. It’s a book that highlights every important aspect in Kings life, especially his work with the ministry, his vision of racial progress, and the important person he became. After reading this book I have come to the conclusion that the purpose for writing this biography was to convey the truth. To tell the truth of what actually happened in MLKs life from a fair point of view. From someone who would not judge or show bias in their writing toward King.

1. Alfred Daniel Williams King was a part in the african american freedom struggle, and he often appeared at his brother’s side in any movements relating to the fights in civil rights in
Mr. King was a phenomenal man, even as a boy, he was very articulate and smart for his age. He was the second child of King Sr. who died in 1984 and was a pastor, his mother, Alberta Williams King worked as a former schoolteacher. King Jr. was the middle child of older sister Christine and younger brother Alfred. He grew up in the city’s Sweet Auburn neighborhood, where there most prosperous and prominent African Americans were to come. King Jr. had attended segregated public schools and had been admitted at the age 15 to Morehouse College where he studied medicine and law.
James Cone’s Martin & Malcolm & America paints a distinctive portrait of the individual yet complementary lives of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X. Cone takes an introspective lens and casts imagery of the backgrounds of King and Malcolm; examining their childhood until the moment they reached monumental heights in the face of history. The story of these two heroic men is not a foreign tale, for all have heard of the works of each. Cone does not take this as an opportunity to provide a biography of their lives, he chooses to look deeper into their lives and reflect upon the development of their ideology. This in-depth analysis shatters the preconceived notions many uphold regarding King and Malcolm. Both King and Malcolm looked for justice in an unfair and unjust society, but one looked through the eyes of optimism, the other looked through the eyes of an unrelenting truth.
What We Talk About When We Talk About Love. It is a story that explores all
Growing up for me some would say it was rather difficult and in some ways I would agree. There have been a lot of rough times that I have been through. This has and will affect my life for the rest of my life. The leading up to adoption, adoption and after adoption are the reasons my life were difficult.
The journey of life follows a predetermined pattern; we evolve from needing influence and guidance to finally reaching that point where our lives are up to us. I consider myself very lucky up to this point in my journey. Some people become sidetracked and wind up on a far different course than initially planned, but the detours I made have only assisted in embellishing the individual instead of devouring it.
There have been tons of things that I have learned and been taught in my life, by a number of people such as family, teachers, or even friends on occasion. The things they taught me vary from math and other related subjects to just some truly simple yet meaningful life lessons. However, there is nothing quite as unique, quite as special as a person teaching themselves a life lesson. It really is an amazing accomplishment for a person to teach themselves something. It is not quite as simple as another person teaching them something because it is not just the transferring of information from one person to another. The person instead has to start from scratch and process the information they have in their mind in order to come up with a new thought
I never really thought about where my life was going. I always believed life took me where I wanted to go, I never thought that I was the one who took myself were I wanted to go. Once I entered high school I changed the way I thought. This is why I chose to go to college. I believe that college will give me the keys to unlock the doors of life. This way I can choose for myself where I go instead of someone choosing for me.
