This week, I went to glass etching. While I was there I designed my own glass. What you had to do is pick a glass, then fill them up with any sticker you wanted to put on it, then you had to put a special material on the design, and then they put the glass ware in a special water and then you were able to take it home. Glass etching was an exciting event to go to because you could put anything that you wanted and it was free. The people that were there teaching us were contacted by Student Government Association (SGA) to put this event for us. SGA is a campaign that organizes activities and organizations for the campus. The person who was in charge of this event was Jennifer Skinner and the student government. She was the advisor for this event.
Technology is evolving and growing as fast as Moore’s Law has predicted. Every year a new device or process is introduced and legacy devices becomes obsolete. Twenty years ago, no one ever thought that foldable and paper screens would be even feasible. Today, although it isn’t a consumer product yet, foldable and paper screens are a reality. Home automation, a more prominent example of new technologies that were science fiction years ago are now becoming an integral part of life. As technology and its foothold in today’s world grows, its effects on humanity begin to show and much more prominently than ever. In his essay, O.k. Glass, Gary Shteyngart shows the effects of technology in general and on a personal note. Through the use of literary
We invite current and potential corporate and community sponsors to our visit us working in our labs, and host tours that are launched with an informational presentation. Each student is versed in Nicolet FEAR’s elevator pitch, and encouraged to share their enthusiasm within our school and
Have you ever wondered why the plastic bag that you left on the porch during winter cracks or breaks more easily than when you left it during summer time but a piece of wood which was left just like the plastic bag has no effect whatsoever? This is because of a phenomenon, which only happens to polymers, known as the glass transition. For each polymer, there is a certain temperature at which the amorphous polymers undergo a second order phase transition from a rubbery and viscous amorphous solid to a brittle and glassy amorphous solid called the glass transition temperature, Tg.1 When the polymer, or in this case, the plastic bag, is cooled below their glass transition temperature, it becomes hard and brittle like a glass but when it is used above their glass transition temperatures, it might have a different effect than when used at room temperature or below the glass transition temperature as normally, different types of polymers like clothes, food packaging, insulations for wires, etc. are either used above their glass transition temperatures or
Could the dysfunction of the Walls family have fostered the extraordinary resilience and strength of the three older siblings through a collaborative set of rites of passage? One could argue that the unusual and destructive behavior of the parents forced the children into a unique collection of rites of passage that resulted in surprisingly resilient and successful adults. In moving back to Welch, Virginia, the children lost what minimal sense of security they may have enjoyed while living in their grandmother’s home in Arizona. The culture and climate (both socially and environmentally) along with an increased awareness of their poverty resulted in a significant loss of identity. As they learned new social and survival skills in this desperate environment, there is a powerful sense of camaraderie between the older children. Their awareness, drive and cunning survival skills while living in Welch result in a developing sense of confidence in their ability to survive anything. This transition, while wretched, sets the stage for their ability to leave their environment behind with little concern for a lack of success. As the children leave, one by one, to New York, they continue to support one another, and emerge as capable, resourceful young adults.
Ever think you are in control only to find out that you are not and you are in way over your head? Well, that is the life that Kristina Georgia Snow has everyone follow in Glass. Glass is the continuing book of Crank. Crank is about a innocent,17 year old girl named Kristina, who is on her way to graduating early when she has to go spend one month in the summer with her estranged father. While at her fathers house, she tries crank for the first time and falls in love with the monster. The book follows her journey with the monster and the consequences that come with it like hurting her friends and loved ones. The book ends with the teen becoming pregnant due to a product of rape. Glass picks up shortly after Kristina Snow, also known by her "alter ego" Bree, has the baby. She names her baby Hunter Seth.
One of the most interesting properties of glass is that of it being able to bend and reflect light. Through the bending and reflecting of light rays, an image is created. What happens though when the image formed is not the focal point but rather is the source of the image, the glass itself? In the commencement of Dave Eggers’s novel ‘The Circle,’ there is recurring images of glass. The lustrous, pristine, and progressive visage that glass supplies encapsulated the Company’s essence of high quality and rapid advancement, and as such comprised most of the physical structure of the building. However, the high-end aesthetic that glass provides is not the only idea that Eggers is attempting to promulgate through the glass images. The less obvious
Time has taught humanity many things. From stone walls to wooden tree houses to glass homes. As far as creation is concerned, glass was and is necessary. Though some cities differ in the use of glass materials they are alike with some architectural aspects. From manufacturing companies for cars to your grandmother’s fine china; we’re talking about glass use of interior design. Some materials of glass are more expensive than others due to the use and weight of glass. With glass windows to windows to cars, glass has become a major factor in society without a doubt. Time has given us many things; stained glass for instance was even use as a symbol for religious purposes. Today we will discover three topics on how of an importance glass is in interior
Last spring semester, our event “Grilled Cheese with the G Phi B’s” benefitted Girls on the Run and raised approximately $10,000. It was a fun, social event where we served unlimited grilled cheese and tomato soup with a $5 entry fee. DJ Erose and
For this project I will be solely looking at the organizations on Armstrong State University, and Savannah State University campuses. These organizations hold all kinds of social, philanthropy, cultural, and community enriching events, in order to uphold the principals upon which they were founded. A quick way to see a good bit of their rituals and ideals is to view one of their most public, for some, and entertaining ceremonies. For the NPHC organizations it is what was once known as a probate and more recently referred to as new member presentations, to avoid the stigma that hazing has placed on probates and redefine their image. Family, friends, other organizations, and everyone and anyone are encouraged to come and take part as a member of the crowd during these shows For the NPC sororities this is a more private event and difficult for anyone unrelated to the happenings of the event to take part
Furthermore, I am highly passionate in photography. As a means to break the ice, our residents should engage in a group bonding project where each person presents an creative project that demonstrates who they are as well as their cultural upbringing.
Student Council (08/13-present), 2-8 hours per week, total hours: 350. I was elected Sophomore Historian, Junior Vice-President and next year I will be Student Body President. I earned the Service Award for my participation in this club.
The explicit presentation of the mathematics involved in the Arrhenius equation (Michels, Tsong, and Smith 1983) rendered the parameters involved in glass hydration understandable. However, the actual implementation of the physical processes described in the mathematical equations into a model replicating the natural environment is a complicated problem hard to solve (Stevenson 1998).
During late April, St. Croix Educational Complex High School art students recently enjoyed the fruits of their creativity during a Virgin Islands Centennial themed art exchange excursion to St. John. Twelve National Art Honor Society and SCEC Art Club students traveled along with SCECHS Visual Arts educator, Danica David, and four parent chaperones. Before traveling, the group sold many Virgin Islands Cultural Contributors Calendars to raise monies for the trip. The Virgin Islands Cultural Contributors Calendar Project is a collaborative project devised during fall 2017 by Ms. David and fellow St. Croix Educational Complex Drama and Speech educator Sayeeda Carter. Ms. David’s students created artwork, while Ms. Carter’s students interviewed and wrote biographies about the selected participants. The calendar project is an interactive learning experience for SCECHS students and participants in the community who are actively contributing to Virgin Islands culture.

Glass is a global material in modern life. It’s used in many things in life and building as a construction oras finishing materials, Glass is a mixture of sand and other minerals that are melted together at very high temperatures between 1000 and 2000° C. To form a material that is ideal for a wide range of uses from packaging and construction to fiber optics.
