Recommended: Experience living away in another country

The experience of being able to travel outside of one’s country is indescribable and can possibly be life changing to others, such as me. Traveling to a new place that is foreign to one can open their eyes and give them a whole new perspective on life. In my opinion if everyone had the ability to travel the world, it would be a better and more understanding place for one another 's culture and religions. For instance, when I was eleven years old I was to travel back to Colombia for the first time in eight years to visit my dad’s family. The last time we went I was too young to really take in the experience of all of what I was about to go through again. For example, having a nice home, warm water, clean clothes, clean shoes, and a safe area to live in. This experience caused me to become more humble, to always be kind, to treat others with the utmost respect, and to realize that there are people who wish to have my type of lifestyle, so I should appreciate it as much as I can. Also, it allowed me to have newfound respect for my father and my family still currently living in Colombia. It’s not easy, but they’ve been blessed to be able manage the way they do. I fell in love with Colombia because despite the things these people had to go through they were all happy and kind to one another. As well, it’s such a much slower pace than America’s fast life and it taught me to take a step back sometimes to just appreciate life because my dad had to go through hell and back to come to the United States. Therefore, whenever I get the chance I always try my best to show my dad that I appreciate him, love him, recognize the sacrifices he made in order for his family to have a better life, and for that I am forever grateful to him. After coming back home, I began to understand how lucky and truly blessed I am in my life. I’ll never forget that trip and I can’t wait to go back to Colombia in November to see what this next experience will bring into my
