One talent that I possess is the ability to dance, and I develop and use this talent in three main ways. One way I develop my talent of dance is by watching other great dancers. A second way I develop my talent of dancing is through practice. A way that I use this talent is by performing on stage in shows. A talent that I have is dancing and I develop and use it by watching other great dancers, practicing, and performing. First, one way I develop my ability to dance is by watching other great dancers. I watch one of my favorite dancers, Misty Copeland, and study her technique to apply to myself. The grace and beauty in her movements inspires me to be better every time I watch her. I also pay close attention to the older girls at my dance studio to be inspired. It is nice to look up at them and see all of the skills that I will be able to do when I am their age. The teachers also demonstrate several moves that I watch them do, so I can do it correctly. To practice, I go to dance classes five days a week. This is a vital step in developing this skill, because the movements do not just come naturally, you have to go to class. I also further my skills by practicing at home. It is not enough to just go to class. You must also practice what you learned in your class at home. It was fair to me that my brother was participating on a baseball team while I've been wanting to dance for years. In order to perform, I of course needed to go to the practice. Practicing three times a week for three hours was rough for the first few weeks considering I was a beginner, but I didn't let that intimidate me and so I continued. Making new friends, learning more about Mexican culture, and boosting my confidence, all of these in my eyes were areas that I had some sort of struggled with but dance little by little, helped me accomplish such positive effects in the three.
I have been dancing since the age of four. I started my intense training with Tanju and Patricia Tuzer, Debra Bale, and Linda Brown at Tuzer Ballet. I have been a dancer since the age of 3. My earliest memory of dance was when I was too terrified to go on stage during a recital and I refused to go on no matter how much they tried to push me. Up until the age of about 12, dance had been just a hobby or an extracurricular activity. In fact, I didn’t even enjoy going to dance. I didn’t have friends there and I wasn’t that good of a dancer. It wasn’t until I participated in Dance Bermuda’s summer dance intensive in collaboration with the American Ballet Theatre in 2012, that I realized that I had a passion for dance. At the program, I was exposed to other dancers that were my age and older and most of them were much more advanced than I. So to avoid being the worst dancer in the program, I took to YouTube and watched hours and hours of dance videos. I researched all the ways to improve my ballet technique. I can remember trying to practice my pirouettes in the kitchen and falling onto the table and knocking a whole bunch of things over. I was determined to be as good as the other girls in the program. By the end of the two weeks I was fired up, motivated, and ready to get back to class after the summer.
When I was about four or five years old, I was introduced to Ballet. I adored being a little ballerina and would read the same dance booklet everyday, practicing the five positions and gracefully positioning my tiny arms and fingers to match the little girl in the illustrations. Although there is never really a way to reach perfection, dancers are always learning from each other and strive to improve, just as other sports players do. It is also stated on Dance is a sport and an art, and dancers are both athletes and artists. Much is expected of those who dance, for they must have precision, strength, dedication and, most importantly, immense love for what they do. In fact, they even do it in tutus with buns on their heads, ribbons on their feet and smiles on their faces.
Learning and teaching new choreography every other day is hard enough, but also having to keep up with strong technique and flexibility along with workouts makes things even tougher. Nonetheless, needing to excel in all of these aspects of drill team add to the amount of time I taking working on dance and trying to improve. No matter how long I have been dancing, there is always room for improvement. This characteristic the lies within dance is influential to how I carry myself because I always see that there’s room for improvement. This has affected my school life because I do not settle for passing grades; instead, I reach for the highest score I can get.
Dance has been apart of my life since I was three. Being a military brat I was never around long enough to establish roots especially in the dance community. Once I turned 10 we moved to Clarksville tennessee for the second time and decided that I would get to stay until I graduated. Meaning I also got to find a dance studio and be on a competition team. Everything starts with an audition.
My friend Du and I always go to gym, and sometimes after doing exercise, we started to practice the movements we studied and some techniques that professor emphasis in class. We tried to recall the actions and dance over and over again, I know it was difficult to dance like the professor does, but we try our best and to guide each other.
