On the event date above, an office visit was scheduled with Mrs. Falletta. During the course of the session it was supposed to be based on completing the intake; however, Mrs. Falletta appeared to be emotional detailing her marital problem as her husband is part of a Mafia, he’s cheater, prior substance abuse, and other children out of wedlock. Mrs. Falletta is fearful for her safety, at which this writer discussed safety plan. This writer provided Mrs. Falletta with information about Family Justice Center, PATH shelter system, and the number to Hope. Alameda has had a hard life as a young girl growing up, both of her parents were alcoholics. Alameda was a 16 year old minor who had a baby and dropped out of school, and then was unable to care for the infant. A case manager by the name of Barbara LaRosa was assigned to Alameda case. Barbara took on Alameda as her client and made a visit to her parents’ home, while making the visit she found Alameda dad incompetent, and could not get any information from him to help with his daughter well-being.
Sandra has a life-long list of accomplishments however; her regrets greatly outweigh her past achievements. Sandra has been in a long-term abusive relationship, she has lost a connection with her children and she is unable to enjoy her retirement; she cannot travel or volunteer, which is all credited to her marriage to Benedito. Sandra has been abused both physically and emotionally and continues to accept abuse because she feels that it is the ethical thing to do. This transition crisis may be resolved by a HSP conducting a life review of Sandra by counseling her and going over different options that are available to her, supplying her with resources that are tailored to her situation and possibly assist her in finding a good lawyer so that she doesn’t have to relinquish some of her hard-earned money to Benedito. Client was arrested on 11/30/2015. Client reported she was incarcerated at Riker’s Island. On 1/5/2016, Client walk in the Social Service Office to informed this worker that she re-entered the shelter on 1/5/2016. Client in the meeting had body odor. Client reported since 11am she being asking onsite RA for her personal belonging so that she can take a shower and changes her clothes. Client continues to report due to limited staff onsite she was told to wait until the RA return from lunch. . In the meeting client was dressed in slack black pants and sweat black hooded sweater. She appears to be calm, cooperative and forthcoming with information.
Intervention options include trauma focused substance abuse treatment and parenting with children present. Barriers to this plan include financial issues, maslows hierarchy of needs, if she is unable to keep housing then she will not be able to address psychological well-being. May need a mezzo intervention to ensure. Macro intervention to affordability and transportation etc. Affordability of quality care and transportation/price to travel. Mr. and Mrs. Jacques moved to the Unites States, with Samuel, from the Bahamas, approximately eleven years ago. She stated that Samuel was a child from a sexual assault and she had him due to her religious beliefs. Mr. Jacques had promised to accept him as his own. She is currently the mother of five children, who are all displaying different behavioral issues. Her husband is abusing alcohol, using drugs and is emotionally abusive. He was diagnosed as bipolar with psychotic symptoms. He does not take his medication on a consistent basis which causes problematic behavior. They have had periods of good times where Mr. Jacques was working and providing for the family. They have lived in their own home and were evicted due to Mr. Jacques inability to provide for the family due to his alcohol and substance abuse. This paper focuses on the Geraldine case (Dominguez, Tefera, Aronson, & NCTSN, 2012). Geraldine’s trauma occurred in the home when her father shot her mother. This paper will focus on my personal reactions to this case, how my reactions effect interactions with the people I am working with and finally self-care strategies. Personal reactions are the things that make us feel or act a certain way that others may or may not see, but we know that something has affected us these can be to good things and bad alike. I might react to winning the lottery by passing out, just the same I might get depressed if a close friend dies. These are reactions to the situations we are presented in life.
Client has one older sister who she stated she lost contact with several years ago. She moved in with her grandmother and step-grandfather when her parents divorced when she was 9 years old. Christina stated she has been estranged from her mother since that time. Client began to pick a sore on arm as she talked about her family. Provided praise for the client taking about such a difficult issue. Client described her father as someone she barely knew and who would occasionally visit her and her sister on holidays. She became nervous as she started talking about her step-grandfather who she report verbally and sexual abused her from the age 9 until she moved out at the age of 18. Marisol’s referral was related to the identified problems: (1) Domestic Violence, (2) Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, (3) Parent-Child Relational Problem, and (4) Occupational Problem. The following strengths were noted: acknowledged that she doing a disservice to herself and her children for staying with an abusive partner, she wants a healthy and safe family life with her children where to abuse is involved, and to take an active role in caring for herself and her children. In order for unification to go well the Mi Sun’s family has to be open minded to providing compassion, love, and safety due to abuse being traumatic. From there, advocacy work should be done on behalf on Mi Sun so the father receives domestic violence classes to ensure Mi Sun’s safety should she be unified and be returned back home. Frequent check-ins should be required to ensure the family has not suppressed Mi Sun’s voice to expression any abuse or wrong doing. Christina and her family wish to successfully reunite despite the abuse that occurred in the past. The abuse was brought to the attention of Child Welfare by a teacher who noticed bruises on Christina. The fact that Christina was reluctant to discuss the bruises made the situation all the more suspicious and thus resulted in reporting the situation to Child Welfare. At this point, both the parents and Christina have stated they want their family to eventually be reunited. This is the broad goal that will be used as a starting point by the agency. The purpose of this discussion is to develop a goal plan for Christina and her family that emphasizes family reunification. There are four main points that this plan must address: goal objectives, strengths of the family, target dates of goals and interventions that will be used. Throughout our state, our country, and our world, there is a rarely spoken of problem destroying the lives of innocent people every day. In America, 1 in every 4 women become victims of domestic violence (safehorizon.org). In many areas, there are programs that incorporate a combination of resources, to keep victims safe while simultaneously ensuring that they have a way to get out and stay out of abusive relationships. Here in Hays, many incidents of domestic violence are never fully resolved, resulting in the victim fleeing and reuniting with the abuser after finding they have nowhere to turn. Women and children become trapped. Not because they choose to be, but because they have run out of options. The resources meant to help them are incomplete, which forces them back into abusive relationships.
In this case study, Laura and Danny have had significant changes in their lives. Laura has now left with the children and planning on moving with them to El Paso, Texas in a month. She has also filed for divorce from Danny. While Laura is making positive improvements to her life she is still concerned for Danny. She goes to collect what’s left of her belongings when she finds Danny in a state of panic. Danny has let himself go at this point. In such an advanced technology world, she heard that a couple in America successfully conceived a sibling that is bone marrow match for his older sister who is still under hospitalized. It was , of course, outrageous and negative thoughts start popping and emerged on her mind, she was so concerned about how would both of the siblings’ perspectives change if the secret ,about why the brother is in this world, is revealed.
