Mob mentality or herd mentality is the change of behaviors of a person by the others when they are in a large group. Reasons that lead to this are like pressure from friends, being fit with everyone, or simply they just want to be accepted. There are some highlighted ideas that come to our minds when we talk about mob mentality. People usually will behave in the same ways as others or even follow each other without thinking. Sometimes they think to join the group to feel belonging. Moreover, people tend to be more anonymous than usual, and they are more chaotic and violent when they are in a group. Last but not least, there is confusion, but at least trying to know what is happening, people just go in the same direction as their peers. In Chapter Doce of Bless Me Ultima, Tenorio together with a mob, comes to the Marez family to kill Ultima. They are a mob when they follow Tenorio to kill La Grande because Tenorio wants revenge. An aggressive and crazy group is one of the factors. For instance, the villagers of Salem, kill terribly some of the people that are accused of being the witches. The villagers do a lot of violent things like put them in jail, hang them up, kill them, etc. They are considering to have mob mentality because they act in the same ways. The town goes along with the whole scene and starts arresting the people they believe are witches base on the little girls. The doctor who checks up for the girls also agrees that the witches have possessed them because he thinks to join the group. Salem Witch Trials are a true crowd hysteria. The villagers want their neighbors to be guilty, so they do anything for those people to be accused. The reason why they do that or follow the crowd is because they don’t want to be killed. In other words, they do that for acceptance and to feel belong with everyone
