In present society of pop culture, a celebrity who is constantly in the media for scandalous behavior would be Miley Cyrus. A daughter of country singer, Billy Ray Cyrus, then as an extremely favored Disney star, Hannah Montana- was just a start to the Miley Cyrus we know today, a tongue-swinging, sedulous-twerking pop sensation. Cyrus has become recognized for recent behaviors, such as, explicit sexual expression at the MTV Video Music Awards, drug use, and rapid mood swings. From a behavioral perspective, the scientific study of observable behavior, and its explanation by principles of learning (from rewards and punishment) behavioral psychologists can propose that as a child, Cyrus viewed female celebrities getting attention for acting out with this understanding, Cyrus later in her life took action to seek for attention very much like the female celebrities in her life. To treat Cyrus’ outburst of attention, a behavioral psychologist would lead her away from her irresponsible actions.
