Don’t step on a crack or you’ll break your mother’s back! This book actually has nothing to do with this superstition. The book however, is about these hijackers that start by murdering the former first lady. Then at her funeral they attacked and captured 34 top important and famous people. At first the motive looked like money because the hijackers made the captured citizens transfer all their money into a certain account, but after that they still didn’t release them. The book then goes on for a while with details from both the NYPD point of view and the kidnaped point of view. To show why Mike Bennett dislikes his job I will evaluate, to find the motive of the hijackers I questioned, and to add emphasis past the book I predicted that the captured will take over the hijackers. Anyone who reads this book can agree that Mike Bennett, the lead detective and negotiator, doesn’t exactly like his job. When Mike got called back to the crime scene he said, “ I am really starting to hate my current role” (Patterson 198). One reason they might rebel is because they have been held captive for a couple of days now without communication to the outside world or to each other. All of the captured are tired and definitely not reposed. Another is probably because no body knows what’s going on, how long the captured are staying there, or if they’re going to make it out alive. One of the captives thought to herself, “Either way, her being alive was important to them, wasn’t it?” (Patterson 167). Many are scared and nervous for what lies ahead. In 1776, David McCullough gives a vivid portrayal of the Continental Army from October 1775 through January 1777, with sharp focus on the leadership of America’s greatest hero, George Washington. When I read this book, I went from a casual understanding of the hero George Washington to a more specific understanding of why Washington was quite literally the exact right man at the exact right place and time to enable the birth of the United States.

I recently read an intriguing novel called “The Lincoln Lawyer”, written by Michael Connelly in 2005. The novel is catalogued as Crime fiction, and Mystery. My favorite genre of books has always been Mystery. However, even if a person doesn’t like Mystery this book will interest them. Michael Connelly is a prominent writer with several amazing novels, and he even produces a TV-series based on his other novels. “The Lincoln Lawyer” is rated a # New York Times Bestseller. USA Today also said, “One of the best novels Connelly has written, if not the best.” But wait. It gets even better. Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher begins when Clay Jensen receives seven audiotapes recorded by Hannah Baker, a girl from his town who recently killed herself. According to Hannah, each person on her tapes is a reason for her suicide. Clay is on the tapes, yet doesn’t see why. He has to listen to figure it out. When Clay finally gets to his tape, it is exposed that he wasn’t actually blamed for her suicide. Clay realizes that even though he didn't do anything bad to Hannah, he let rumors stand in the way of their budding relationship. Clay could have made a positive difference in Hannah’s life and hopefully prevented her suicide. Clay's possible role in Hannah's is hard for Clay to comprehend. He knows Hannah did this to her self, but is angry because he didn't do anything to stop her. Clay who’s normally calm gets so mad; he punches a fence and cuts his hand. Clay after staying up all night listening to the tapes brings himself to school the next day, realizing he cant hide the rest of his life and reaches out to another girl, Skye Miller. He does this hoping to keep her from the same fate of Hannah.

Then when Soda started sticking up for him again I went off on Soda because I was tired of him always sticking up for him. That’s when Pony yelled at me so me not thinking about it I shoved him down. I am reading the book Shooter by Walter Dean Myers. In my book the main character's name is Cameron Porter. He is a seventeen-year-old boy that attended a school called Madison High. There one of his closest companions Leonard, Len for short, has killed someone and maybe himself. I have only read about half of the book and only two of the five sections, so I don’t know exactly what led up to everything. But from what I’ve read, It seems like both Cameron and Len came from troubled backgrounds. Like both of Cameron’s parents are well off people and have lot’s of money but he doesn’t have a good relationship with his father because his father doesn’t treat him well and his mother doesn’t really notice him either. In the summer of 1940, World War II had been in progress for nearly a year. Adolf Hitler was victorious and planning an invasion of England to seal Europe’s fate. Everyone in the United States of America knew it. The Germans were too powerful. Hitler's Luftwaffe had too many planes, too many pilots and too many bombs and since Hitler was Europe's problem, the United States claimed to be a neutral country (Neutrality Act of 1939). Seven Americans, however, did not remain neutral and that’s what this book is about. They joined Britain's Royal Air Force to help save Britain in its darkest hour to fight off the skilled pilots of Germany's Luftwaffe in the blue skies over England, the English Channel, and North Europe. By October 1940, they had helped England succeed in one of the greatest air battles in the history of aviation, the Battle of Britain. This book helps to show the impact of the few Americans who joined the Battle of Britain to fight off an evil that the United States didn’t acknowledge at the time. The name of Kershaw’s book was inspired from the quote, “Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to sow few,” which was said by British Officer and Prime Minister Winston Churchill.
Hard-boiled detective fiction sets the scene for a cold and harsh reality. Dashiell Hammett’s, “The Girl with The Silver Eyes” is no exception to this rule. In this short story Hammett paints a picture of a brutally realistic urban center filled with characters that not many people would want to call friends. The realistic qualities of Hammett’s story are drawn from his own life’s experience working as a Pinkerton detective. The detective in “The Girl With The Silver Eyes” works for the Continental Detective Agency and is, therefore, known simply as the Continental Op. In the beginning of the story the Op professes, “a detective, if he is wise, takes pains to make and keep as many friends as possible among transfer company, express company and railroad employees” (27). This paper will examine this philosophy of the Continental Op, how he employs this approach to detective work and uncover if this approach is beneficial or disadvantageous.

The title of this book relates to the story, because in the book, Ponyboy and Johnny are “outsiders.” They can be thought of as Outsiders because they are labeled Greasers although they do not act like hoodlums, like the rest of the Greasers. They are thought of as Greasers just because they live on the East Side of town, and because they slick back their hair. But Ponyboy and Johnny are different then all of the other Greasers because they show their emotions, and are sensitive.
