Recommended: Critical analysis of the book thief

Markus Zusak reads as, Death, he watches over everyone during the time of World War Two, taking souls when the time comes for them to be set free. He tells us a little inside scoop of what's going on in the destruction that was happening outside of Liesel's story. The Book Thief, by Markus Zusak, dates back in the time of, the 1930’s where a young German girl named Liesel Meminger lives with her foster Mother, Rosa Hubermann and Father, Hans Hubermann in the town of, Munich Germany on Himmel Street. (TRANSLATION-Himmel-Heaven) Rosa, her foster mother, is fouled mouth ill tempered stay at home mother that takes an ill liking to Lisel. While Liesel's foster father, the tall accordion playing, cigarette rolling, man, loved having Liesel in his life and took a liking to her immediately. At the start of Liesel’s thieving filled story, she had a younger brother named Wren, him and Liesel were riding in the train on their way through Munich where he died in the third carriage, after much intense coughing...there was nothing. Just an eerie silence. No one on the train took much notice when Death went to work. Except for Liesel, the young girl watched as her brother was carried away, never to be seen or heard from again. At Wren’s funeral after the ceremony, a young grave digger started to work on Wren’s grave when he dropped a book called: The Grave Digger's Handbook. The young girl looked at the book then back at her mother as they started to leave, she grabbed the book and tucked it under her jacket then walked back to her mother to go back to the train going through Munich. Thats, when the The Book Thief was born, and soon, more thievery was to come. Liesel Meminger, is a young extremely shy girl who is afraid to speak her mind, i... ... middle of paper ... ...ther. Even after “The Jesse Owens Incident” he still had the goal of becoming the next Jesse Owens no matter what anyone thinks. Death(Played by Markus Zusak) he plays the part as Death, he watches the world start burning to ashes because of the War. Collecting souls one by one taking them to be set free. The day he had to take Lisel’s brother Wren’s soul from this earth he watched as the small girl on the train watched him take his soul away never to be seen again. He then watched over her at the funeral and watched her steal her first book. He knew there would be more tragedies to come and so he is going to keep his eye on young Liesel Meminger for the time being watching her sneak the books away learn the words and sneak them back only to steal yet again. Death watches Liesel’s story from beginning to end, until the very last minute of the you Book Thief's life.
