Culture difference consists of values, behaviors, norms, or manners that differentiate people from one another (Henslin 32). There are many cultural differences in this movie. On the way to Meemaw’s house, the Heffley goes to a country fair. There were a variety of people from different areas who were attending the fair. Greg and Manny reach at a section of the country fair where the participant have to correctly guess the weight for a pig in order to get a prize from the organizer. The organizer of that section asks Manny for the weight of the pig and Manny gives the right answer and wins that pig. But Greg refuses to take that pig because his mom doesn’t like to keep pets in her house. Because of that, he tells everyone that only people living on the farms have pigs but, they are normal people and so he …show more content…

This shows that people at that site loves to have a pig in their houses, but Greg doesn’t like to have a pig in their house which is a big cultural difference between the two sets of people. Another cultural difference can be seen at the end when the family is waiting on the road to take help from somebody in order to reach their home, back from Meemaw’s house. A Spanish speaking person stops his car and starts communicating with the Heffley family in Spanish. The Heffley family explains that guy that they do not know Spanish, but then Manny starts communicating in Spanish with that Spanish guy. When the road trip starts, Susan plays a CD in the car in which a girl is teaching Spanish words into English and Manny learn to speak Spanish words which helps her in communication with that Spanish guy. The language spoken by the Heffley’s and the language of the Spanish guy indicates the cultural differences between the two parties. Manny can be the subculture of this
