Martin Luther King, Jr’s speech “I have a dream” which was delivered on August 28, 1963, from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial had a grand impact of the Civil Right Movement. Martin Luther King, Jr. said that he wanted to deliver something somewhat like a Gettysburg Address, that is exactly what he did. In King’s speech I found that he had very good usage of the Rhetorical Triangle and was able to develop a solid argument. Ethos, which means writer, is an appeal to your credibility as an author or speaker. Ethos goes over who you are as a writer, what you are trying to prove to your audience, and what your motives are as to why you are bringing forth this argument.
