Musicians are very interesting types of people. Every individual is different in his/her own aspect and that fact contributes greatly to the creativity and variety in music. If two people from two very different musical backgrounds can come together and not only get past, but embrace the differences in their own tastes in music and create audial art, it is an absolutely amazing turn out. A great example of this would be the combination of Mark Tremonti and Myles Kennedy. These two come from almost opposite ends of the musical spectrum and have managed to find a common ground in the form of Alter Bridge. Kennedy was a band geek in high school; he was the first chair trumpet player and was into sheet music and compositions and melodic, alternative types of music. Tremonti has a very stereotypical rocker backstory; he did not like the way band instructors and tutors ran things, was angry because of some personal problems he had going on in his life and found that hardcore rock and metal music was his best way to escape from it. It seems almost impossible that these two could ever get along let alone form a band worthy of Wembley Stadium. Mark Tremonti shows his talent and ability to hammer out a deep, heavy riff to catch people’s attention. Those two types of players could go in completely different directions and write opposite types of music if they wanted to. They instead, decided to work together in order to do something greater than themselves. They write music together and combine the heavy sound of Mark’s guitars with the melodies of Myles’s choruses in order to form a type of rock that is very different from everything else. These two men may be very different, but that does not take away from the fact that they work well
