The contributions to music demonstrated by the career of Def Leppard prove beyond a doubt the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame should induct this band. Def Leppard’s worthiness of this award is shown in there achievement, influence, and professional. Some achievements they had was when they were on the “Bill Board 200 with their song ‘Hysteria’;.. sold 10,000 copies in the first week,… [and] spent six weeks at number one and 133 weeks on the Bill Board 200” (Caulfield 57). Heavy metal in the 1980’s is hard to describe. Its static style did not change much from the 1970’s, but the lyrics, image, and theatrics took a step forward. Heavy metal had a huge impact in the 1980’s and there were many successful bands. Van Halen took heavy metal to new heights. After more than two decades of playing sold-out concert halls, selling millions of albums and enduring various lineup changes and solo projects, Van Halen is recognized as one of the most resilient and successful rock bands to emerge from the 1970s and continue into the 1980’s.
After it’s release, Led Zeppelin’s popularity grew so unbelievably within the next few months that by the time they recorded and released their second album, “Led Zeppelin II” less than six months later, they got their first number one on the billboard chart. This album alone sold 12 million copies worldwide and is still hailed as one of the best rock albums. These two albums were followed by “Led Zeppelin III”, “Led Zeppelin IV”, “Houses of the Holy”, “Physical Graffiti”, “Presence”, “In Through the Out Door”, and “Coda”, which four of them reached number one on record charts all over the world. However, the best of Led Zeppelin is their fourth album “Led Zeppelin IV”. Not only

(Ebsco Host) The Beatles accomplished many things in their career, and they were very influential to the music industry. “Give me fuel, give me fire, give me that which I desire”, if one doesn’t know where this famous lyric has come from, the band Metallica would be the answer. Metallica is a lethal, energetic, up tempo metal band that has been around since October 1, 1981. Screeching of the guitar, double bass pedal of the drums, deep noises of the bass, and a recognizable voice, Metallica is the only band where no band could do it any better. Metallica started out slow, overcame some obstacles and is still rocking out country to country today. Metallica started from the drummer Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield.
During their fifty years as a band, the Rolling Stones have released twenty-nine studio albums, eighteen live albums, numerous videos, concert films and compilations. Well known for their amazing performances onstage and their wild reputations offstage, perhaps the Rolling Stones most impressive achievement was that they were still going strong as they hit their fifty year anniversary with no end in sight.
After years of hard work Jackson released his second album in 1983, Thriller. It wasn’t merely the best selling album by a black artist; it was the best-selling album of all time. It sold more than 45 million copies worldwide, charted #1 in every western country, and dominated the U.S charts for 37 weeks. Thriller was so great that it forced through the racial barriers dividing music and k... ... middle of paper ... ... of race in music and also made efforts to “heal” the world. His unique musical sound and style has influenced numerous hip hop, post-disco, contemporary R&B, pop, and rock artists (“Biography”).
Of course he has made more money than most people will ever make but, he has always said it is not about the money only about the music. Even though he has had some great achievements the real accomplishment is the way he makes every fan feel through his music. He puts so much feeling and power through his work. Being the most popular member of AC/DC he is known for his onstage antics that get the crowd going wild. To this day, eve... ... middle of paper ... ...hat they are the best rock band around.
