Marble champ I think there are many great short stories with great themes and life lessons, for example Marble Champ. In the story “Marble Champ” by Gary Soto, I think Lupe is very admirable. She is admirable because she is a very hard worker, and a good sport, not only is she a hard worker and a good sport she is also very intelligent. I think you would have to be pretty great to be admired by others, don't you think so? One reason I admire Lupe is because she is an extremely hard worker. For example, she did one hundred, yes one hundred push ups on her fingertips! She did this to strengthen her wrist and thumb muscles. I don’t even think I could do a hundred push ups on my hands, let alone my fingertips! That would take a lot of work and effort! Secondly, she also squeezed an eraser at least one hundred times! For instance, when she won against the first opponent Rachel, she didn't brag not only that, she invited the girl because she had no one to cheer for her, and later on she also invited another opponent that lost to her, Yolanda. Not only did she never brag she never called the people who lost losers or any other names. She also shook hands with everyone which shows very good sportsmanship. She didn’t have to be a good sport but she chose to be one, which is very admirable. Finally, she is very admirable because she is very intelligent. Not only is she a straight A student but she also was the school's spelling bee champion but also was the winner of a reading contest at the public library three summers in a row, not only that but she also won the blue ribbon award in her school's science fair. Yes, she is very good at stuff that involves her brain but she wanted to be good at something with her body she wanted to be good at one sport just one, and that's when she ran into marbles.
