Outliers: The Story of Success is a nonfiction written by Malcolm Gladwell, The book proposes and examines the factors contributed to great success. Some of which are uncommon and unexpected, but are said to be essential to high achievements. Ever since we were young, we are often told that talent and hard work are the most crucial factors leading to success. Yet, just as the lyrics from the theme song of the cartoon Powerpuff Girls had mentioned “Sugar, spice, and everything nice. These were the ingredients chosen to create the perfect little girls.”, that is other than sugar and spice – talent and hard work, our “professor” suggested various significant factors that we may have overlooked. There is threshold value like While Einstein had a IQ of 150, Chris Langan, who has 195, is undoubtedly a 100% super genius, but because of the lack of wealthy family background, understanding from his professor, the availability of scholarship, the chance of education and recognition. However, it is worthwhile to note that b\eing exceptionally smart or industrious does not necessarily make you an outlier. Because according to , there are , having IQ 100 may actually be more common than you think, yet, what makes a person truly stands out from the crowd is the coincidence of events and qualities happening together on him or her, the slight advantage that he enjoyed in every stage of his life accumulated, distance himself from peers further and further it is a cumulative competition and it starts the moment you are born Indeed there are things that you can do to change the situation a bit but trust me it wont make much of a difference. Because you have no say in many of the qualities, such as birth date, family, nationality even intelligence. However, does that mean we have to admit defeat? No! The above were only some of the patterns found in most of the outliers in nowsdays’ society and even outliers is just a group of sample from the population. There are always outliers from the very group of outliers and you have every chance to be the very one.
