Throughout Shakespeare’s Macbeth, the theme of blind ambition leading to the uncontrollable actions of violence occurs continuously. The major conflict in which the play reflects on is that when one uses violence to fulfill his ambitions for power, there is no turning back, and the violence cannot be stopped in any way. Therefore, the halt of violence acquired from the death of Macbeth restores Thebes in a positive way and it is the best solution for both Macbeth and for those around him. This project demonstrates the good versus evil reflected through the blind ambition and violence in Shakespeare’s Macbeth by music including both classical and modern melodies.
The theme of blind ambition leading to wild actions of violence is influenced directly in Macbeth’s life even when his natural being does not consist of committing evil deeds from the beginning. However, he is seen to have the desire and ambition to rise to a higher stance, especially as he is named King of Thebes. He himself acknowledges that “I have no spur To prick the sides of my intent, but only Vaulting ambition, which o’erleaps itself And falls on the other –” (page 41). His first actions of killing Duncan consisted of nothing more than just pure ambition to reach higher for power. Although at first, he is directed specifically by Lady Macbeth to commit an evil doing of killing Duncan, he ends up losing all his control that he had in himself and turns into madness. The first introduction of the piece starts off at an adagio tempo where emotions aren’t fully expressed but reflected upon. This is carried on with the legato melody lines of the right hand and the overall transition from the grand C minor chord in the beginning leading into the F minor arpegg...

This transition became the ending because of the fact that after Macbeth’s death, the life that felt like death and fear as well as violence that continuously created madness is over. Therefore, the positive side to this was indicated by the two major chords in the end with confidence and decisiveness.
The overall ending of Macbeth’s death becomes an end of violence, fear, and wild actions where no one has to live in the fear of death or violence taken too far from ambition. Moreover, Macbeth doesn’t have to suffer from not being able to sleep again, which indicates that his life of rest and innocence is over. In this project, the point that Macbeth’s death led to a positive ending and an overall balanced atmosphere like before is proven by focusing on the violent melodies carried out from ambitious ones.
