There is no more difficult disease to diagnose, understand or treat than lupus. Lupus is a Latin word meaning “wolf”, describing the lupus patient looking as if they had been bitten or scratched by wolves, also known as systemic lupus erythematous, this is due to the fact that lupus is not one disease but many diseases group under one heading. Lupus is considered a chronic inflammatory disease and has been determined that genetics and the environment may be a cause for this painful disease.
