There are many actions in these three stories that could influence our lives. These influences can change our lives forever. The three magnificent stories are Romeo and Juliet, Much Ado About Nothing, and West Side Story. They all have to do with how someone fell in love with another person to fast and it could change all of their families forever. For example, West Side Story has two different gangs that are fighting over who owns the turf in the area. Then the Jets planned on meeting the Sharks at the gym for dancing. The Sharks showed up to just dance, but the Jets had another idea of dancing. Then one Jet member and one Shark member had love at first sight. With this happening it could change everything that is happening. Making the wrong decision can end up ruining or making our lives better. Falling in love with someone to fast could change our lives.
In the West Side Story the love happened to be between to gangs that do not like each other that much. This turf war became fatal when two people fell in love at first sight. They ended up having a fight under the high way. This ...
The play West Side Story, by Arthur Laurents, is based upon the play Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare. Despite a few differences, both works, in essence, have the same plot. The source of violence in Romeo and Juliet and West Side Story is the ever-present hatred between families and between gangs, although, because of the "star-cross’d lovers" motif in Romeo and Juliet, the hatred plays a larger role in producing the ending of West Side Story than it does the ending of Romeo and Juliet.
...l concept, many consequences can arise as a result of it. Their display of self-destructive and reckless behavior endorses the idea that young lovers are not yet mature enough to handle the ramifications that appear as a result of a complicated relationship. Their willingness to rush into major events, such as marriage and even death, further shows how passion can cloud one’s judgement and control one’s thoughts and actions. Though written a long time ago, the message that Shakespeare conveys in Romeo and Juliet about young, passionate love applies to modern society as well, where great consequences arise from people acting on emotional impulse as opposed to calm reasoning.
In West Side Story, as the camera swings grandly down out of the sky, the audience discovers the Jets, a gang of tough kids, twitching restlessly in a playground park. As the camera continues to descend it captures bodies moving gracefully and fiercely in frequent spontaneous bursts of dance. As the strong blend of drama, dance, and music unfolds, the story of the Sharks and the Jets and their endless fighting begins to unfold as West Side Story. The film tells the story of two of New York City’s rival gangs, the Sharks (a Puerto Rican gang) and the Jets (a white European Immigrant gang), and their endless feuding. Both gangs are continu...
Many tales use the feeling to create conflict and resolutions within their plots. In the movie Titanic by James Cameron, Rose, an upper-class, rich woman meets Jack, a man of working class on a ship. They fall in love with each other but they’re social status’ forbid them from being together. They plan to run away together, when tragedy strikes. The boat collides with an iceberg and Jack is killed when the ship sink but Rose survives and has to move on with her life. The Shakespearian story of Romeo and Juliet is another example. The star-crossed lovers see each other and it is love at first sight, but when they realize who they are, they remember the feud between their families. At one point Romeo kills himself over Juliet’s sleeping body but then she wakes up, sees him lying there and kills herself as well. There seems to be a theme of people falling in love, and then one or more of the party
Romeo and Juliet has frequently been described as a story that has many hasty decisions in it. The story of Romeo and Juliet is about two loving young people. They fall in love at first sight at a party. But there’s a problem. Their families hate each other. But they don’t care. They get married secretly. Then Romeo gets into a fight and gets banished from the great city of Verona. Juliet fakes her death so she doesn’t have to marry a man named Paris. Then Romeo kills himself because he thinks she is dead, and Juliet stabs herself when she finds Romeo dead next to her when she wakes up.
Romeo and Juliet is arguably the most famous story about love in literature. This is in part because of the tension caused by the look the different characters have towards what love means and its role in life. These views were very important for the progression of the story. Their different views collided and caused much grief and sorrow for the characters throughout play. Many important events that propelled the story forward would not have happened without the various feelings towards love the characters have and how they felt of and reacted to the other characters’ view on love.
The film West Side takes place in New York City where a Polish- American gang, referred to as the Jets, competes against a Puerto Rican gang, the Sharks, to own the neighborhood streets. The central theme of this film is passionate love that defies friendships, family and other factors. To add to that, the dominating genre of the film is a musical involving drama and romance.
Love is a wonderful curse that forces us to do unexplainable things. Romeo and Juliet is a famous play written by William Shakespeare, who does an exceptional job in showing the readers what hate, mercy, death, courage, and most importantly what love looks like. This play is about two star-crossed lovers who are both willing to sacrifice their lives just to be with one another. Unfortunately tragedy falls upon the unconditional love Romeo and Juliet have for each other, but along the way they experience immeasurable forgiveness and extraordinary braveness just to be with one another. Sadly enough, love is a cause of violence in the end. Even though the pair spends less time together, it is enough for them to fall in love. It is clearly true
Love is a beautiful thing, it always works out in the end. Everyone is always happy and no problems occur. West Side Story, a musical by Leonard Bornstein based on Shakespeare 's Romeo and Juliet parallels a love story of two star-crossed lovers. The play takes place in 1961 in New York City. This musical displays importance because it shows that nothing can overcome the power of love. This play is based on a love story between the main characters of Maria and Tony. Theses two are from different gangs that trouble to get along. They are from different gangs that do not get along at all. Roughly two hundred blocks make up Manhattan’s West Side, which stretches from Central Park West to the Hudson River. For the most part, the street youths
In West Side Story, the premise is quite similar. The two rival gangs are the Jets- the Americans, and the Sharks- the Puerto Ricans. The Jets hate the sharks because they feel as if they are encroaching on their territory when they walk the streets of New York as easily as the Jets. The Jets and the Sharks have been in a constant state of uproar since the Puerto Ricans first started moving to America and the gangs were formed.... ...
Filmed in 1961, West Side Story is a modern-day telling of Romeo and Juliet. Two youths struggle with their forbidden love as two gangs, the Jets and the Sharks, duel. At the end of the film, Maria says, “You all killed him […] with hate!” This is a universally acknowledged theme that hate can kill. West Side Story is said to be a “morality play about “our” everyday problems: racism, poverty, and the destructiveness of violence” .
In the play “Romeo and Juliet”, Shakespeare shows that love has power to control one’s actions, feelings, and the relationship itself through the bond between a destined couple. The passion between the pair grew strong enough to have the capability to do these mighty things. The predestined newlyweds are brought down a rocky road of obstacles learning love’s strength and the meaning of love.
Their love surpassed the hatred in which the families endured for generations. In the end, they both ended up killing themselves, for one could not live without the other. This story is a perfect example of true love.
In William Shakespeare’s drama Romeo and Juliet, he writes about an unfortunate love between two adolescents in Verona, Italy, during the Renaissance period. In the film West Side Story, Robert Wise and Jerome Robbins direct two characters into a hopeless romance during the 1960s in New York. Even though Romeo and Juliet and West Side Story are distinct due to dissimilar settings, they share an almost identical plot. The personalities of the two female characters shape the futures of their romances in their storylines. Although Maria and Juliet share connections such as being rebellious, Maria is innocent while Juliet is more mature in understanding the concept of having a relationship.
Love is a strong affection or warm attachment to someone; on the contrary, pain is a punishment or penalty or suffering of body or mind. These emotions carry a direct relationship; love leads to pain. However, everything that begins must eventually come to an end, and in the end one emotion is victorious. There is a constant struggle between the opposing emotions; henceforth, Ernest Hemingway combines both of these emotions into A Farewell to Arms. Through Fredric Henry and Catherine Barkley’s relationship, Hemingway combines these two emotions in a relentless power struggle. Where love leads, pain shortly follows proving that what comes from love can be dangerous. Ernest Hemingway’s A Farewell to Arms takes place during World War I and describes the relationship between a war doctor, Fredric Henry, and a nurse, Catherine Barkley; the couple follows the cycle of love and pain to prove Hemingway’s point that love is ultimately dangerous.
