In this essay I will describe to you who’s fault it was for the famous star-crossed lovers deaths. In this play, two people meet and fall instantly in love, and yet do not know that they are doomed for early death. This is the wonderful tale of Romeo and Juliet. This exciting play was written by none other than the famous William Shakespeare. Many different events lead to the deaths of two young lovers, but who’s to blame? Lord and Lady Capulet are the characters most to blame for the tragic events in Romeo and Juliet because they forced Juliet to hide her relationship with Romeo, they tried to force her into marrying Paris, and they did not go try to fix their feud with the Montagues at any time.

Although Romeo and Juliet had just gotten married, they did not dare tell the Lord and Lady. They decided to continue hiding their love and didn’t think of the consequences. Lord and Lady Capulet, not knowing of this new marriage, wanted to set up Juliet to marry someone of her status; Paris. When Lord Capulet heard Juliet’s cry to not marry paris he responds, “I tell thee what- get thee to church a Thursday or never after look me in the face. Speak not, reply not, do not answer me!” (Shakespeare 3.5.161-163). Lord Capulet now tells Juliet that she will be grateful and go to the church on Thursday to marry Paris or he does not want to see her ever again. He does not know of her love for Romeo and wants her to marry Paris, but Juliet does not want to be with anyone else except Romeo.
