How does Benigni convey that love provides hope in the movie, Life is Beautiful

The Academy Award winning movie, Life is Beautiful, is an inspiring and wonderful movie, directed by and starring the wonderful Roberto Benigni. Life is Beautiful is an inspirational movie about a Jewish-Italian waiter, Guido, who falls in love with the kind and beautiful Dora. They become married and conceive a boy whom they name Giosue. Years later, as the explosion of war came into the picture of their family, Guido and Dora must survive their separate ways at a concentration camp. At the same time Guido tries to make-believe a game for Giosue to still have a good childhood in the concentration camp. Through this terrible time Guido still tried to take care of his family by giving them hope through love.

Guido and Joshua had an idea to talk to Dora through a loudspeaker telling her about the dream Guido had about going to the movies with her in a beautiful dress. Giosue also told her about how much fun he had ‘playing a game’ with Guido. Through this scene, Benigni first portrayed the setting, reminding the audience where Guido was at the same time he presented the loudspeaker to tell the audience that it is there. To finish the scene, Benigni used a headshot to help the audience see what Dora is truly feeling in her facial expression. You can also see that the other women in the headshot are blurred out to create a stronger concentration on Dora. From this headshot you can see Dora overwhelmed. Perhaps thinking that if Guido and Giosue accomplished this act of love in a concentration camp, gives her hope that they would make
