Redemption is defined as the action of saving or being saved from sin, error, or evil. In Les Misérables by Victor Hugo, redemption is shown through several characters and several means such as physical redemption, mental redemption, or a mixture of both. A parallel in redemption occurred in my life when I was 8 years old and saved from drowning. Through the the novel, Jean Val Jean is seen trying to atone and receive redemption for his past crimes. Aside from him there are many other times where redemption occurred second handedly through him.For example, when Fauchelevent was saved by Jean ValJean from under the carriage or when Jean Val Jean saved Marius and let go of Javert.
