Leadership In The Film 'Remember The Titans'

The movie that I selected for my “Leadership” individual assignment was “Remember The Titans”. It went beyond the shadow of doubt that this movie portrayed most of the concepts that related with leadership skill. From this movie, I found out that the character of Coach Herman Boone displayed most of the qualities of leadership with supported traits.

First and foremost, an excellent leader will let his team member to achieve more than they otherwise would or push them out of their limit range. By doing this, Coach Boone which is the black head coach of the team hopes that his trained players will be more confident of themselves that makes them have a clear vision of goal so that they will able to accomplish together. For example, he uses the military-style approach to train the football members in order to make them overcome the racism barrier to be more disciplined and stronger to win the championship …show more content…

A fair treatment towards the members is important as they will believe in how the leader lead the team fairly towards a common goal. Coach Boone pushes his team out of their limits and forces good relationships between players, regardless race. He said the best players will play, colour won’t matter. To illustrate this, Petey, the black man, made a mistake during the training but then Coach Boone still punished him for running the field no matter they have the same skin colour. He is not bias as we can see that he did not take side at his member that has the same colour with him.

As a conclusion, the character Coach Herman Boone has shown his leadership qualities well in this movie “Remember The Titans”. In my opinion, I admires how Coach Herman Boone leads the team by using different tactics in order to make the team work together regardless race towards the common goal which is winning the
