The group was driven by violence and racism to combat the post war equality legislature that was beginning to pass in Congress. Since then, the Klan has had a long history that has had an impact on America on several levels. There has been a recent strong effort to put an end to their irrational destructive behavior towards African Americans, Hispanics, Jews, Homosexuals, and many more. After the Civil War the whole country suffered a great loss of life and industry. Entire cities were destroyed piercing the economy; the South was particularly affected by the war.
So he gathered many other slaves and they all went on a killing spree of murdering white men, women, and children. In the end the revolt was crushed and Turner was killed. That was not the end though. FEAR spread through the southern states. Laws more strict and harsh.
These words do not even compare to the hatred of the Ku Klux Klan. Klan members would often resort to vigilantism and violence to rid African Americans of their society. For many years this organization instilled fear among African Americans in the United States. Still after reconstruction efforts and the civil rights era the Ku Klux Klan continues to be an immoral issue and a problem in modern day America. The Ku Klux Klan, commonly referred to as the KKK or simply the Klan, dates back to the immediate days after the civil war according to Carnes Nightriding with the Klan (103).
The inequality seen in American history has impacted all American citizens in different ways. Through the years, the people living in America have seen the different measures variety of racist groups do to make certain people stay at the bottom of the hierarchy in American society. One group that targets African Americans is the Ku Klux Klan. They are better known as the KKK, who wear hooded white outfit covering their faces shielding their identities. They committed hate crimes that led to the injuries and deaths of countless people.

Members of the Klan dressed in all white burning black schools, homes and churches. State governments within the South remained helpless silently supporting these violent acts. The Klan used terror tactics like beating and sometimes killing to threaten African Americans and other people who supported them; the organizations major goal was to reestablish white control. Racial violence by Klan members continued to grow throughout the South despite efforts of reformation by the Union.

The Klan rapidly grew from a secret social fraternity to a paramilitary force bent on reversing the federal government's progressive Reconstruction Era-activities in the South. For the Klan, nothing else mattered until the newly freed African American slave population was returned to a servile status, since slavery was no longer an option.
