At the age of 12 years old, Justin Bieber finished second in an obscure talent contest in his hometown. When Justin was 14, a talent manager found his cover songs on Youtube. Within a year of being found on Youtube, his first album was certified platinum in the United States. “His album My World matched that success, selling more than 137,000 copies within a week of hitting stores” (Justin Bieber. 3). A lot of celebrities don’t ever notice their fans, but Justin does. There’s many people that think Justin is a bad person and a bad singer. Justin has had a positive influence because he’s determined, thoughtful, and helpful. Bieber is a singer who is very determined with many things. Justin wasn’t born into fame like some celebrities. “Pencils of Promise helps build schools and create more opportunities for education. Justin donates a portion of his ticket sales to the charity” (Lindner 10). In 2013, Bieber helped build a school in Guatemala. “On Oct. 27, the 19-year-old traveled to a remote village in Guatemala with the organization Pencils of Promise, a charity he’s long supported that builds primary schools in developing countries like Nicaragua, Laos, Guatemala and Ghana” (Teling 1). Some might think that Bieber didn’t help build the school and he just raised money for it. “He didn’t just watch: He helped sift concrete, lay down cinder blocks, and spent time playing with the children who will one day attend the school” (Telling 1). Guatemala wasn’t a rich place so nobody really knew who Bieber was. The children didn’t know who Justin was so he actually got to be himself. While building the school, he actually began to have a strong bond with all of the children. In 2013, “Pencils of Promise raised $10 million since being founded in 2008” (Telling 2). One school usually costs about $25,000 to build, and Pencils of Promise has raised way more than that. “After deadly tornadoes swept over Oklahoma in July, Justin Bieber set aside a chunk of tickets for victims to go to his concert and have fun despite what happened” (Lindner 9). Helping build schools, donating to Pencils of Promise, and donating tickets to tornado victims shows how Justin Bieber is helpful to people who are in
Most people think of someone who is famous for being egotistical, stuck up and think they are better than everyone else in the world. Travis basically proves all of those opinions wrong and makes you realize that although some famous people may be that way, not everyone is. Travis is a very talented drummer and takes his work seriously. Travis wasn’t the original. drummer for blink-182.
We were amazed with the facility and all it had to offer. It was apparent money was invested abundantly as they were still adding to its structure. My children had to return to an old decrepit school whose football field was just a field with wooden benches, and tattered books for learning materials. The school was a reflection of its population status, whose only hope was selling candy bars with no investors in sight. Reference Kozol, J. (1999)
Throughout America’s history there have been countless influential leaders that have proudly been American. Those have held positions of politicians, soldiers, and . Kanye Omari West has opened the eyes of today's generation and still continues to shape American history. His musical influence has transformed the lives of countless people. Inspiring many to stand up and fight for what they believe in is something Kanye West continues to do even today.. Also, opening the eyes of many to racial injustice towards African American citizens. I’ll further elaborate my claim in the following paragraphs using historical evidence.
Justin Bieber is suppose to be a role model for today’s society and demonstrates the immiturity of stars his age and how when you have “fans” all the fame can go straight to your head and you can start to believe you’re untouchable. “Why the f**k are you doing this? What the f**k did I do? Why did you stop me?” Bieber cussed out a cop when he was pulled over for drag racing in Miami. During the stop, Justin failed a sobriety test, admitted to under age drinking, smoking weed and taking some antidepressant prescription pills that his mother gave him. Over the last five years Justin has been careless with the stunts he has pulled and the things he has let take place. He has been caught fighting with paparazzi, he was urina...
Ariana Grande is one talented singer. The girl has impressed everyone with her spot-on celebrity singing impersonations and has sung with some of the most talented singers still alive today. Growing up I remember my mom turning the music up whenever she heard a good song. The only genre, she listened to was country so I grew up loving country music. I now turn the music up whenever I hear a song Luke Bryan wrote because his music is so good. Growing up Luke Bryan was a normal child, but over the 20 or more years, so many devastating things have happened to his family that are hard for Bryan and his family to get over.
A major problem with public school is lack of funding, and it seems as if nobody follows the money once it gets to the school. The students and staff both suffer from the lack of money in schools. I attended a really poor middle school named Bishop-Spaugh Middle School. In middle school, students were almost never assigned any homework because students didn’t have any books. Teachers at this school also were compelled to buy many essential items such as paper, markers, and erasers because the school didn’t have enough money to provide the supplies to them. Money inside of schools isn’t being handled correctly. In the movie The Cartel, $1 billion was given to a construction company to build and improve schools. However, a couple of years passed and the company never built a single structure and the money was gone. Nobody knew where the money disappeared to (Ventures). The same people in charge when the money disappeared stayed in charge for a very long time. Because of the lack of money, schools we...
Imagine at the age of eight you are the lead singer of one of the most popular bands at the time with multiple songs reaching number one and produces incredibly popular albums, and at the age of around twelve you start a solo career, ("Jackson 5"). Michael Jackson's life was just that, including many multi-million selling songs across two music groups the Jackson 5 at the age eight and going solo at the age of twelve and having many adoring fans it contributed to Jackson being the best pop singer of all time. Although there were rape allegations which people suggest that Michael Jackson should be stripped of his title of the "King of Pop". Michael Jackson even with the faulty allegations, the popularity

He is the perfect example of there’s only so much a person can take. Although I recognize that Justin Bieber should have anticipated the pitfalls of fame, I still insist that he wasn’t prepared considering the way he was brought into fame and he was deeply affected and influenced by it and rose up from it all. Not only was Bieber brought into the spotlight at a young age, he was brought into it in a new era, he was the first major pop star to be discovered on YouTube and then being
For example, on July 11 of 2013, Bieber made headlines by peeing into a restaurant mop bucket; which had a picture of Bill Clinton. After making headlines nationwide, everyone was quick enough to start hating because of what he did and he appeared to be making fun of Bill Clinton; which was the 42nd president of the U.S. In my opinion, society saw this as unrespectful because Bill Clinton was seen as not important to Bieber. Besides the fact that he did that, I understand why people hate Bieber so much because he made a lot of mistakes that people didn’t agree with back in
At the age of 13 Jackson launched a solo career. He made the chart i...

These investments to the community are not one time donations of wealth, but they offer the opportunity for future improvements in our society. By helping schools, hospitals, orphanages, etc. the less fortunate community now has the opportunity to succeed and establish a better living environment for themselves, and for the future that they will later on contribute to and improve.
I think having places like this that are geared towards children who come from low-income and academically at risk schools is going to be very beneficial to their futures. They also provide an 8,000 dollar scholarship to be used towards college. This is a great idea. If we would fund programs like this in Portland, we would teach children of any income and academics that everything is possible and here is the help to achieve it. I think bias like this could affect us reaching out to the K-12 community. As we all know, children tend to tease other children, making them feel bad about them selves. As Isler mentioned, people are going to put you down, but you need to pick yourself back up and continue on, this should also be taught in the after school enrichment groups and even in classrooms in general. I think that by reaching out to the K-12 community, we could encourage and boost the confidence of kids who might need it. By instilling the fact that these children can do anything they set their mind to, we are setting these children up for success, just like Jedidah
