What made Jonas change through the novel called The Giver? Jonas's life changes as a results of conflict with his dystopian society. Throughout the giver Jonas made multiple decisions that lead to his life change, for example, Jonas forgot to take the medicine and saw the apple turned red mid-air when he had caught it it went back to moral. After Jonas stoped taking the medicine to see if the apple would change again, because of his choice Jonas life changed.

At the end he can't tell his friends why they not to play the game their playing called war because he can't tell his friends it's in his rules. After that he asked The Giver what is release so he shows Jonas and he is horrified from his experience of seeing his dad murdering a new born! Now he is horrified of his dad ande used to be not horrified of his dad. Now scince the begining he was dumb and normal now he is wiser, smarter,stronger,better,braver,and couragous. And now his dad which he is horrified of put a release for Gabe and he tod Jonas " I voted for Gabriel's release when we had a meeting this afternoon" and Jonas had put his fork down and told his father" Release?" Then he was really mad so he took the little one Gabriel and started his journey to escape he had to ride on teh side of the river then he had been oaettling for hours and finally left the community. Then got to elsewhere its just road for a long distance he uses his memory of snow to make the heat vision air planes not detect them at the end of their journey when they are on a moutain. The Giver was an example of a dystopian society. In this community citizen doesn`t had any freedom. It had a lots of information about why it was dystopian, but today I will talk about few thing. First reason was the natural world was banished and distrusted. Second was information, independent thought, and freedom were restricted. The last was they had fear of the out side world.
At this point, Jonas has realized what release really means. He finds out that the little baby Gabe that has lived with his family is being released at the very next morning. And the large plan that has been made with The Giver, to get rid of sameness within his community can’t be carried out because he knows that he must save Gabe’s life. He starts to really understand what it means to truly live and truly love. He knows he loves Gabe and, therefore he must sacrifice himself in order that Gabe might live. People change over time. It's inevitable, time helps people grow. In the beginning of The Giver by Lois Lowry, Jonas played it safe, but after being chosen as the Receiver, he becomes more aware of the conflicts in his community.
Jonas decides to leave and change the lives of his people so that they can experience the truth. “The Giver rubbed Jonas’s hunched shoulders… We’ll make a plan” (155). Their plan involves leaving sameness and heading to Elsewhere, where Jonas knows the memories can be released to the people. He has a connection with Gabe, a special child who has experienced the memories, unlike the rest of the community. Jonas has a strong love for Gabe, and he longs to give him a better life. “We’re almost there, Gabriel” (178). Even with a sprained ankle, Jonas keeps pushing forward because he wants everyone to experience what The Giver has given him. He wants them to have a life where the truth is exposed. The main character is Jonas. He is very special and different because he can see beyond. Jonas notices that his family is not emotionally attached to him. The families are not related and the kids are assigned to the parents. When the kids are assigned to family units, they are called by their number, not names.
I can assure you that reading this book will make you take valuable lessons with you. Jonas is a really wise, curious and a positive 12 year old boy. I think we should learn to be like him more because in the story Jonas shows how he follows what he thinks is right and not what the society thinks. This helps portray the importance of individuality.
On the surface, Jonas is like any other eleven-year-old boy living in his community. He seems more intelligent and perceptive than many of his peers, and he thinks more seriously than they do about life, worrying about his own future as well as his friend Asher’s. He enjoys learning and experiencing new things: he chooses to volunteer at a variety of different centers rather than focusing on one, because he enjoys the freedom of choice that volunteer hours provide. He also enjoys learning about and connecting with other people, and he craves more warmth and human contact than his society permits or encourages. The things that really set him apart from his peers—his unusual eyes, his ability to see things change in a way that he cannot explain—trouble him, but he does not let them bother him too much, since the community’s emphasis on politeness makes it easy for Jonas to conceal or ignore these little differences. Like any child in the community, Jonas is uncomfortable with the attention he receives when he is singled out as the new Receiver, preferring to blend in with his friends.

Have you ever imagined about dystopian society? This society doesn't have wars, murdering or bad behaviors. The community in the giver, it is a Dystopian society. Dystopia society is safe, comfortable but, not free. They don't have any emotions like love, sad, hurt... There are three main reasons why I think community in the Giver is exactly Dystopia.
The apple in The Giver symbolizes change. In Jonas’s visions he “had noticed, following the path of the apple through the air with this eyes, that the piece of fruit had-well, this was the part he couldn't adequately understand - the apple had changed. Just for an instant.” (21-22) This shows Jonas has the power to see beyond, he is experiencing the color red. Change may happen even by accident but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s bad. Such as in this case where changing continuously allowed Jonas to help others constantly by taking the burden of all the pain in the world because of a mistake in genetic engineering. As you can tell sameness, precision, and indistinguishable people doesn’t mean perfection. Change is necessary to allow everyone a chance to grow, to experience, to grow as a person and in their jobs, to be unique, and different. That way
Jonas knew that he had to get out and leave his society. There were many complications to Jonas leaving. Jonas did not want to leave Gabe so he had to find a way to bring him with. Once Jonas was ready to go he got himself and gabe already to go. Then they were gone and they found elsewhere.
The book The Giver is a Dystopia because the people in their community have no choices, release and because the people don't know or understand what life is. The world in the beginning of the book seems like a utopia because how smoothly it runs but it actually is a dystopia because no world or place ever is perfect. This place or the givers world still has many flaws.
In the book, The Giver, Jonas is portrayed as a kind, curious and rebellious individual with a keen sense of awareness. The beginning chapters revealed Jonas as a very naive and compliant person, similar to everyone else in his community. Instances, when he was a child and got reprimanded for small misunderstandings, made him like this. However, throughout the book, Jonas has grown into an independent and determined person, someone who wants to make a change. Jonas finds new strengths in his character which forms him into someone spectacular and distinctive.
The movie starts when Jonas and his best friends, Asher and Fiona, are graduating from childhood and are founding what part they will take in the community. Jonas feels lost because he feels that he is different. He saw things differently, but he never said anything, because he was never wanting to be different in this perfect world. He felt scared that he does not belong in his community.
Jonas always tells his dreams. He always was there for chastisement. He always shared his feelings at the evening meal. He also always took his pill every morning. “Now he swallowed the pill his mother handed him.”(Page 38). By the end of the book Jonas is rebellious. He stops taking pills for emotions that he is supposed to take everyday. Jonas stays at the Giver’s house when he sees his father kill a baby. Jonas also tries to escape from the community when Giver creates a plan to escape from the community which Jonas barely follows because of Gabe’s release. “But your role now is to escape.” (Page 162). This means that Jonas has to escape and the Giver must stay to help the community after he is gone.
