Johannes Gutenberg, which means John of the good mountain, evolved the way books were copied and made, in Europe. Before Gutenberg's printing press, books were copied by hand, therefore making them more expensive. He noticed this problem and took action to resolving it. How he solved this intimidating problem, is he invented a printing press, and not just any printing press but a movable type printing press. He discovered that letters could be cast onto lead, put into a press, and printed on paper. This was a revolutionary idea. He has been known to be the most influential man in the past one thousand years because he printed about 180 Bibles. Today there are 47 but, only 21 are fully intact.
