Agoraphobia is a psychological disorder characterised by panic and anxiety. Often times, people develop agoraphobia after a previous panic attacks, which than causes them to worry about having another in the future (Agoraphobia, 2017). There are many causes, symptoms, effects on both the individual with the disorder and their loved ones, as well as a variety of treatments available.

In the movie “Crazy Beautiful”, the main character Nicole obviously has a mental illness. I believe this comes from a multiplicity of reasons such as genetics, and her abuse of alcohol. Also, it appears as Carlos has a much more difficult life than Nicole, however he is not the one with the mental illness. I will go into further detail on what I think why the illness is with Nicole, not Carlos. Nicole is a very interesting character; she just needed to find her weakness and work through it with people who care about her.
Throughout the movie, Lizzie Borden shows many signs and symptoms of a mental disorder. First, she gets easily angered, especially by her father. An American psychologist, Eleanor Maccoby, is known for her research and scholarly contributions in association to family and child psychology. Developmental psychology was the main focus of her studies, but also included the study of parent- child relationships, gender, and social development of a child. Working along Skinner, Maccoby graduated with her Bachelors, Masters and Doctorates from the University of Michigan. After graduation, she then continued her psychology career at Harvard University for several years. She was then offered a job at Stanford University, where she was employed as a professor, conducted research, and became a member along with being the first woman appointed to Chair of the Department of Psychology. Her research resulted in many recognized publications. American Psychological Association recognized Maccoby as one of the most prominent psychologist. Rose Mary Walls is mentally ill. I am not a doctor; therefore, I cannot medically diagnose her but I strongly feel she has a bipolar disorder and depression. Her overly emotional tendencies, narcissism, and also lack of maturity are all signs that point to Rose Mary having a mental disorder.

As a young child, Marilyn had trouble making friends her age. The only friend she had was her dog Tippy. Everyday Tippy would eagerly await her arrival. One day when, Tippy is killed from an accident, Marilyn was startled by his death. This traumatic event affected her so much that she was inconsolable for weeks. This could have lead to Maslow’s safety need for protection. Individuals motivated by this need, include physical security, stability, dependency, protection and freedom from threatening forces (Feist & Feist, 2009). Young Marilyn believed Tippy was murdered by the neighbors, and now they are after her too. Her guardian at the time, found this to be disturbing (Taraborrelli, 2010). This explains why she was always seeking protection and needed to depend on others. This was the beginning of her anxiety. This explains why she was always seeking dependency from others.
Self-destructive behaviors are also very common in individuals with Borderline personality disorder. Susanna validates this trait by her lack of motivation, conversations about suicide, and her suicide For example; Lisa, the diagnosed sociopath, displays very little empathy for those around her.
