Jesus & Buddha
Disciple?: I have heard that you are two of the wisest men in the land and so I
have come to you in hopes of advise. I am scared for my future and for the
future of my newborn daughter. Can you tell me what is in store for us or
give me an assurance me that we will be all right? Jesus: Do not worry
about your life. Do not worry about food, drink, the body. Life is more than
these things. Believe in your heavenly Father. He knows what you need and will
provide you with it if you practice and have faith in his teachings. Strive for
the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be given to
you as well. Buddha: No. Comfort in the present and future must come from
inside the self , not from a God. In meditation you will find the truth of
life that will set you free from worry.
Don't chase after the past,
Don't seek the future;
The past is gone
The future hasn't come
But see clearly on the spot
That object which is now,
While finding and living in
A still, unmoving state of mind.
This focus on the present is the beginning of the path to enlightenment
which is comfort through understanding. When you are able to keep your
mind focused on the present in a ‘still, unmoving state of mind' you have
reached enlightenment, where you will be beyond all emotion including
suffering and worry.
Jesus: That is not so. A search for the entire true of life can never make you
content in your life because you can never know everything there is. That
is for God alone to know. To enter the kingdom of heaven you must have
faith in our Father. You must trust in His wisdom even in hard times.
For to know all and understand all you would be a god. And putting
yourself on a platform with God is disrespectful and blasphemous. But if you
follow His laws your suffering will end in the hereafter.
Buddha: Truth is available to all people not just gods. For truth is in all
things in the universe. We only have to learn not to react with emotion to
see it. If you can master not reacting through meditation you will see the
true nature of the universe that lies behind the illusion of emotion. In this
truth you will see the cause and effect relationship of all things and
in that an order which will bring you understanding and comfort.
“Work out your own salvation. Do not depend on others.” (“Quotes by Buddha”) The Buddha went through many trials and tribulations to reach enlightenment. But, he persevered and once he reached this state, he shared his spiritual knowledge with countless others (Editors of Biography.com).
This paper is a comparison between two very different religions. Specifically Christianity and Buddhism. Coming from opposite sides of the globe these two religions could not be any farther apart in any aspect. I will discuss who Christ is for Christians and who Buddha is for Buddhists. I will also get into the aspects of charity, love, and compassion in both religions and I will be looking at the individual self and how christians see resurrection where the buddhists feel about the afterlife. One thing to keep in mind is that the two religions are very different but they seem to have a very similar underlying pattern. Both believe that there was a savior of their people, Buddha and Christ, and both believe that there is something good that happens to us when our time is done here on earth. This is a very generalized summarization but in order to go in to depth I need to explain the two religions more to fully convey this theory.
What is the proper viewpoint of my situation or more importantly how should I view myself?
In His First Advent, Jesus Christ was sent to earth by His Father to be the perfect sacrifice for our sins, and He will return again in His Second Advent to take us to be with Him in Heaven (John 14). When born again believers abide in Heaven, their spirit will be in control over their mind, will, and emotions. The separation between God and man will no longer exist; mankind’s Savior will always be present with them, and Satan will be chained no longer to harm mankind. Women will no longer have labor pains, and a hierarchy in marital status will no longer exist. A new earth will be created dissolving its cursed ground; mankind will no longer have to work hard for sustenance, and death will find no place in Heaven. But until that day comes, God has sent the Holy Spirit as our Comforter, Strengthener, and Standby to aid His children in their trials (John

In the era of Ancient Greece, numerous city-states emerged throughout the country. Among the seven-hundred individual communities, two stood out the most: Athens and Sparta. Since both cities were created from the same initial idea, they had several similarities between the two from speaking the same language, to practicing the same religion. However, because each community was its own entity, there were many differences between Athens and Sparta as the two did not see eye-to-eye on most matters. This included government types, treatment of citizens, and even the fate of each inhabitant’s life work. What follows is an attempt to describe a fraction of the characteristics between Athens and Sparta that make them both so unique, yet still somewhat the same.

And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins. Matthew 1:21
According to the book of Matthew, “Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king,” indicating he was born between 6 and 4 BCE (Matthew 2:1). The Bible refers to this as the virgin birth because Joseph and Mary never conceived him. He was a human being in which God took his form. Very little is known about his childhood and the Bible only reveals a picture of Jesus and his teachings when he was approximately 30 years of age. Whatever happened to Jesus during these years is a mystery to us all, but whatever happened transformed him into the divine being which he is today.

Regardless of the fact that Buddha and Socrates were of divergent origin, lived in different era, led contrasting lives, they seem to have been unified in their seeking for the Universal Truth. Guatama Buddha defines that truth is the concepts of morality are changing, it happens everywhere. For ...

be the Dharma of that focal point – the Dharma of Satya, the nobility of the law, as they call it. We discover this hard on the grounds that we have been taught to think regarding tangible operations, exercises of the faculties, and not instinctively. Truth is natural; it is not tangible, it is not mental, it is not cognitive, it is not perceptional.
The founder of Buddhism was not a divine being, prophet, or messiah, like many people today believe. He was an ordinary man. Siddhartha Gautama helped revolutionize the world, by discovering Buddhism, and helping his followers find true peace in their lives through the path of enlightenment. The Hindu word, “Buddha”, means “One who is awake” (Pauling 5). Towards the end of his life Siddhartha became “awake”to the world around him. This enlightenment would be the building blocks for Buddhism, and would change the world forever.
