Throughout the course of two brothers, Jack Yufe and Oskar Stohr’s, lives, they lived in very different settings, shaping them to be different physically, however, this did not make them into different people when it came to a mental state. Yes, of course as they grew they matured, and began to develop their own characteristics, but overall, they were very much alike. In the Washington Post article, “Jack Yufe, a Jew separated for years from his ex-Nazi twin brother, dies at 82,” written by Yanan Wang, it reads, “Their cultural differences were as immediately apparent as their physical similarities.” This is showing that while they have some differences in ways that many people would, depending on our surroundings, they still resembled one another in a drastic way, from their genetics. They grew up in very different communities, and had totally different lives, which changed how they viewed their ideas of some things, but they both thought pretty similarly …show more content…

In the other, Associated Press article, “Jack Yufe, Identical Twin Raised Apart from Brother, Dies,” written by John Rogers, it clearly states that, “...They also walked with the same gait, had the same nervous habits, and even liked to play the same practical jokes on people.” These things are not necessarily what one would get out of a certain up-bringing, but that they would grow up with, mentally and genetically inheriting. When looking at the nature vs. nurture debate, I strongly take the side of nurture, especially after looking at this story. The twins seemed to have more in common than things that they differed. Many of their cultural beliefs were very different, but they had a copious amount of similarities that would have been due to genetics. Both of these articles show that their looks are not the only thing that the brothers have in common.
