Jack the Ripper was a notorious serial killer even though he was only responsible for eleven killings. The reason he is most infamous is for the fact he was never identified. Jack the Ripper's killings occurred over a ten-week time span. The newspapers began to call this era the Autumn of terror. There was a man during this time who was referred to as the "leather apron." The author's details follow with imagery that places you right in the streets of London. Overall, I found this book very interesting because it allows you to become a part of the investigation. From the very first killing to the last letter received, this book kept me on edge wanting to uncover this mysterious shadow killer of 1888. I really enjoyed the book and felt like the author done a great job at captivating my attention and forcing me to make my own decision over the identity of Jack the Ripper. I would recommend this book to anyone who is curious about the unknown killer and his cryptic killings. Anyone interested in profiling or forensics should read this book. Richard Jones' writing is very effective especially when breaking down The Ripper's eerie letters. The pictures of his victims make this book even more enticing by pulling on the emotional side of the reader. One weakness of the book is although actual images are shown of The Ripper's handwritten letters they are very hard to read. Not
