Is Wal-Mart good or bad? Do they really treat their employees unethically? Does Wal-Mart really hurt the communities where they are located? Many believe Wal-Mart is bad as a whole. Bad to their employees, bad to their suppliers, bad to communities, etc. But hard evidence and facts prove otherwise. I will be proving that Wal-Mart as a whole is good. Many say that Wal-Mart treats their employees unfairly, that they don’t pay them for the over time they work, or that they are bullied and attacked. For decades’ unions have tried to urge Wal-Mart employees to participate and join a union. Wal-Mart employees have refused to. And they have that right to refuse to join a union. Wal-Mart has employed over 1.3 million people. Each Wal-Mart has anywhere from 150-350 employees. Supercenters have up to 500 employees. When a Wal-Mart is built there is a possibility of taxes being raised and smaller businesses closing. But Wal-Mart is the largest corporation in the world. They also pride themselves in offering the lowest prices for products. Because of their lowest prices being offered when the taxes go up it is barely noticeable because the cost levels out. Small towns benefit by having a Wal-Mart because it provides more jobs, low cost items all in one location, and they even help local farmers.
