It is no secret that the issue of punishment of sex offender is steadily growing. From what kind of sex crime was committed, to who committed it , the bottom line is we need change. The main argument that people bring up now a days is that if you commit a crime, then you should suffer the consequences and face your punishment , and I totally agree. But when you start going overboard and start making people publicly display there long gone past, then you start to have problems.To name a few, inability to find a job, inability to find a place to stay, and last but not least the person’s overall character is destroyed.

For example ,if you lived within 2500 feet of a school and you were convicted of a sex crime, upon your release you would not be allowed to return to your home(ACLU challenges Miami Law On behalf of homeless sex Offenders.) I somewhat agree with this rule because if a child predator was going to go back to committing sex crimes , a school ground would be the ideal place to go to because of the vulnerability level. But something else can be done. Instead of basically taking away someone 's life and putting them on the streets . Increased amounts of security could be placed around and on school campuses. People will probably say that this will cost more money from the school system to hire these people , but with all of the crazy and naive people in our communities today; shooting schools, etc, we need better security for our kids anyways . The next solution to this problem could very well be providing mass adult shelters for people that because of their background were required to leave their homes they occupied. Homeless shelters are available but most of them do not take in previous sex offenders because they also house children. This wouldn’t only decrease the amount of homeless people, but it would also decrease the amount of crime that is committed on the streets due …show more content…

The fear that a person that was previously convicted of a sex crime will get out of jail and go back to sexually assault or rapeing people. They have every right to ask that question and be concerned about it, but you have to also think of the REHABILITATED. The consequences they have to face are not good for their character nor is it good for their well being. Ever since we started discussing the sex offender registry a very unique question keeps coming up that I would like you to ask yourself. Is it right that a man that commits murder, serves his time in jail, gets out ,and is granted all of his rights? He doesn 't have to let the public know about his past, nor does he have any living restrictions ,yet most people would consider murder a more lethal
