People can die at the hands of someone else because they decided to drink and drive.There are people who are injured by drunk drivers. Some people are mentally injured by drunk drivers through witnessing people die because the driver made the mistake of driving drunk. However, there is always a way to avoid If there was a designated driver for ever time a group of people went out it would cut back on so many accidents. Many people would not have to drive in fear of there being drunk drivers out on the road. Less people would die from car accidents or lose a limb. People would not have to pay the price for someone else 's mistake. If someone does not have a designated driver call someone up and ask for a ride home. It is a better option to even call the parental figures for a ride than getting behind the wheel drunk. There are times where it is better to face the wrath of the parents than potentially having some blood on your hands. Another way to get out of the situation is if you know you are going to drink at a party ask the host if you could spend the night at their place. That is completely avoiding the situation and it insures that no one could possibly get hurt by you. Drinking and driving is very dangerous. You are not only putting your life in danger, you are also putting those who are also on the rode in danger as well. There is always a better option than drinking and driving. You can sit your but where ever you’re at, or you can have a sober person come to pick you up. Whatever you do, do not get behind the wheel. Alcohol slows down the activity of the person’s central nervous system, including the brain which makes them react slower and reduce concentration while driving. During the dark hours, my grandfather was walking the streets in El Monte, California. It never crossed his mind that during that night his life would flash before his eyes. He was at a crosswalk where he pressed the button to cross the street. Once the cross light switched for him to cross, he did. He took his first step off the sidewalk and began walking. My grandfather did not realize what was to come once he stepped off the sidewalk. A car approached going over the speed limit. The person in the car was under the influence and ran a red light. It was then that my grandfather was hit by a drunk driver. My grandfather passed away at the sight of the scene. The young adult that hit him was taken into custody and put on trial for my grandfather’s death. They were driving they stopped at a stop sign and from behind them was a drunk driver speeding and the driver did not stop and rear-ended them causing the jeep to flip over and kill the kid. Alcohol abuse is the most common problem, nowadays. In fact, majority of people drink alcohol repeatedly to the point where they have difficulty to stop. Statistics show that, as much as, “40% of college students report drinking five or more drinks in one episode” (Walters & Baer, 2006). Alcohol has become more popular over the years as advertisements, simultaneously with commercials of it, filled the media. It also is easily accessible and cheap in comparison to other psychoactive substances. On the other hand, alcohol safety awareness programs are barely noticeable. My research will present how alcohol and its abuse gets into people’s lives and how it influences their physical and mental health, as well as, social existence.
