If I could give you a list of reasons why being afraid of Santa is reasonable, I would. But I can’t. Because being afraid of Santa just isn’t logical for a seven year old boy. I have never quite understood what is so appealing about this fat, jolly man that brings gifts into your home in the middle of the night every December 24th. It’s creepy if you ask me. I mean you can look at it two ways. A man comes into your house, eats these disgusting cookies we all set out that everyone knows are full of boogers and probably spit, hangs out for a while to put presents under your tree, and then leaves, onto his next house for the night. Or, you can look at it the way I see it. A large, weirdly dressed blueberry man hops down your chimney at the dead of night to steal your food, and give you these presents you’ve wanted forever, but how does he even know that? To me, the guy seems like one heck of a stalker. No. I am on a mission to prove that Santa is logically terrifying because nobody else agrees with me. Trust me when I say this, “I KNOW I AM NOT BEING CUTE BY “PRETENDING” TO BE AFRAID OF SANTA.” It’s just not cute after a year or two of being around. However, riddle me this, why do other kids think this is amazing? The gifts? Sure, I understand that. But everything else? Science has taken hold of our lives, providing answers for all questions and dismissing anything that cannot be explained as either myth or fiction. So it’s quite understandable why you don’t believe, with no physical proof of his existence. It’s indeed understandable to lose sight of Father Christmas with the transformation of this holiday into one that, as of late, is used commercially as a lucrative crutch solely to make profit. It’s understandable to abandon Santa Claus after hearing countless people deny his very physical or even spiritual existence. After all, one tends to believe something if it is repeatedly reported as true. But, let me tell you something, something that may lead you to quite a spectacular, fulfilling life.
Christmastime was always a magical time of year for me. The beautifully decorated shopping malls, with toys everywhere you looked, always fascinated me. And the houses, with the way their lights would glow upon the glistening snow at night, always seemed to calm me. But decorating the Christmas tree and falling asleep underneath the warm glow of the lights, in awe that Santa Claus would soon be there, was the best part of it all. Carols, snow, mistletoe, cookies and milk. These are all synonymous with the Christmas season. However, for many, the true staple of Christmas is Santa Claus. As I look out my window I see tiny snowflakes slowly drifting down. I can hear the roar of laughter coming from the living room downstairs. Soon enough Saint Nick will be upon us. Christmas always brings everyone home for the holidays. Christmas is my favorite holiday because of the traditions my families and I celebrate that include our Christmas Eve routine, Christmas morning routine, and giving back to our community.
