Investigating Oxygen Debt During Aerobic and Anaerobic Exercise
Introduction
During this experiment I am aiming to investigate the oxygen debt in
two people after exercise. During exercise energy is needed in the
muscles. Energy comes from food which is converted into glucose and
for the most efficient energy supply muscles also need oxygen. When
energy is produced using oxygen this is called aerobic respiration.
The formula for aerobic respiration is:
glucose + oxygen = carbon dioxide + water + ENERGY
During aerobic respiration the waste products are carbon dioxide.
Carbon dioxide is carried away in the blood and water is taken away by
sweating from the body.
When muscles do extra work more oxygen and glucose is needed, so more
blood must be pumped to the muscles causing the heart to beat faster.
Eventually more oxygen is needed in the muscles than is being inhaled
by the lungs so the muscles begin to work anaerobically. This means
oxygen is no longer used in the equation and the glucose forms lactic
acid. The formula for anaerobic respiration is:
glucose = lactic acid + ENERGY
During anaerobic respiration the waste product is lactic acid. Lactic
acid is a poison and causes muscle ache and eventually cramp. Lactic
acid burns up some of the energy being produced, therefore anaerobic
respiration only produces half the amount of energy that aerobic
respiration does. The only way to get rid of it is by oxygen breaking
it down, and the oxygen required to do this is know as oxygen debt.
The debt is the amount of oxygen consumed in recovery above what would
normally be consumed at rest in the same length of time.
The two people that will be taking part in the test are Lucy and Amy.
Lucy performs regular training for netball and for running and Amy
regularly trains for swimming. Lucy will be slightly fitter as she
completes more intensive training and she will also perform better on
the running tests because the muscles groups that are required for
running will be stronger than Amy who uses different muscles groups
Specific prompts, sample and teaching items individualize the administration and ensure low scores are not due to the subject’s failure to understand the standardized instructions. The KTEA-3 continues to use item blocks, based on educational level, for the Reading Comprehension, Listening Comprehension, Written Expression, and Oral Expression subtests with instructions for establishing a basal. The KTEA-3 utilizes only a suggested order of subtest administration; only two of the subtests (i.e., Letter & Word Recognition before Word Recognition Fluency and Nonsense Word Decoding before Decoding Fluency) have a designated order as a minimum level of performance on the former ensures the examinee has the requisite skills to complete the latter. See Table 1 for a summary of the KTEA-3 test and composite
Doodle’s brother is presented as a cruel person in “The Scarlet Ibis”. For example, when Doodle is born weak and on the verge of death, Doodle’s brother who wants a normal younger brother to play with “began to make plans to kill him by smothering him with a pillow” (Hurst 555). This quote shows that Doodle’s brother is willing to kill his newborn brother because he isn’t strong
Scout and Doodle both have nicknames. Scout’s actual name is Jean Louise Finch, and Doodle’s actual name is William Armstrong. A scout is someone who goes out and finds information. Scout is a questioner and observer. Doodle was given his nickname since a name like William Armstrong didn’t quite click with someone who was small and frail. “Crawling backward made him look like a doodlebug so I began to call him Doodle, and in time even Mama and Daddy thought it was a better name than William Armstrong.” page 417 of The Scarlet
In the novel, ‘To Kill A Mockingbird’ by Harper Lee some characters suffer in the hands of justice and fairness more than others. Many characters in the novel are discriminated against such as Calpurnia, Dolphus Raymond, Helen Robinson, Burris Ewell and more. However I will be focusing on the discrimination against Tom Robinson for his race, Walter Cunningham for his low socioeconomic status and Boo Radley for the rumors and supposed mental instability he holds. I chose those three because they are the most prominent and I will discuss how the discrimination against the characters therefore leads to their injustice or unfairness.
Jem is Scout's brother. He is a little older than Scout. He also becomes familiar with the prejudice of Maycomb County through the story. In addition, he grows up like most teenagers “He was difficult to live with, inconsistent, moody” “said Scout” (pg. #). That statement is made when Jem starts to grow up. He doesn’t want to play with Scout like a little kid anymore. He wants to be a man.
A mockingbird is the innocence of a bird who only sings for others, bringing pleasure to those willing to listen. Tom is innocent, willing to help people, seeing the world as a positive place even if it was not what it seem. He is a gentleman whom was put down just because they are considered “different” in the society of maycomb. He was willing to help Mayella, a lonely, helpless girl, who needs his help because her father will not. He felt sorry for her, but yet in the end he was accused of a crime that he never commit. The blue jay is loud and arrogant; where else mockingbirds only sings other birds' songs. The people of Maycomb only knew Tom Robinson by what others said and accused about him, he did not have the chance to truly show them his real self. He did not have his own freedom, he does not have a "song", just like a mockingbird. Therefore, he was characterized by other people's viewpoints, not by him expressing his true self.
Tom Robinson, from Harper Lee’s To Kill A Mockingbird, was shot. Tom Robinson who was accused a raping a white girl and when put on trial, was found guilty and sentenced to death in prison. He attempted to escape from the prison and when caught by a prison guard, he got shot and he died. But this is not what killed Tom Robinson. Lee hints to the readers who is truly responsible for the death of Tom Robinson. What killed Tom Robinson was the pressure of Maycomb County and their views on how negroes should be treated verse how a white man should be treated. The actions and beliefs of the individuals in Maycomb who is to blame and who is to take responsibility for Tom Robinson’s death.
When you think of an older sibling, they tend to come across as bossy, mean, and overprotective, but they really have good intentions. Jem, a character in the story To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, is the brother of the main character Scout, and the son of Atticus Finch. Throughout the book, he plays a major role in the novel and is a very important aspect to the theme. Jem shows his imagination, bravery, and his love for his sister.
Imagine a tall slim man dressed in a very respectable iron pressed suit, with a tie that’s perfect length and fits nicely with the colors of his blazer. To go along with his suit, he carries a very affluent briefcase with a matching belt and shoes. This is the typical perception from students of someone that works in the legal profession, including the consumption of time spent on only work along with having a very stern look. However, a look at how it’s shown in the film To Kill a Mockingbird, it shows that things like standing for justice, having integrity, and being family-oriented plays a huge role in the lives of lawyers.
In To Kill a Mockingbird, Scout Finch represents a young southern tomboy who strives to find her identity. The adults in her town of Maycomb...
Scout Finch is growing up in the tired old Alabama town of Maycomb, she doesn't have anybody her age to play with besides Jem and Dill. Early on Scout has problems with some of her classmates like Cecil Jacobs. Cecil Jacobs makes fun of Atticus and the finches by saying “Atticus is a nigger lover”. Cecil Jacobs was referring to Atticus defend a black man named Tom Robinson. Scout later...
Scout Finch is the narrator in Lee’s work To Kill A Mockingbird, and the two share many similarities in real life. They both grew up in the 1930 in Alabama towns. Lee’s father was Amasa Lee “attorney who served in the state legislature in Alabama” (Johnson). Atticus Finch who is Scout’s father was also an attorney and served on the state legislature. They both had an older brother and a young neighbor playmate. Lee’s was Truman Capote and Scouts was Dill.

Hydration is an important aspect that can contribute positively or negatively to an athlete’s performance. When an athlete becomes dehydrated, both mental and physical performance is affected, especially when heat is an environmental factor. This is a problem when high intensity exercise is involved in the training and participation of a sport. Coaches should be aware that athletes need to hydrate before, during, and after exercise in order to maintain optimal performance levels. There are different ways to maintain hydration.
There are our series in the degradation of glucose in the two different forms of respiration. This includes glycolysis, link reaction, Krebs cycle and the electron transport chain.
