Internal validity is concerned with the accuracy of the study’s design. The extent of control applied over potential irrelevant variables decide the position of internal validity. Checking for possibly confusing variables lower the possibility for a different explanation for treatment effects and gives more confidence that effects occur because of the independent variable.

There are seven threats for internal validity have been defined: (1) history, (2) maturation, (3) testing, (4) instrumentation, (5) regression, (6) selection, (7) experimental mortality.
History is a threat when other determinants external to the subjects show by advantage of the time goes by. For example, a researcher wants to study the effect of having pets at home on the social behavior of children.Without researcher`s information, the parents of the participant children in the experimental group have started to have children play soccer every Sunday.If there was a difference in social behavior of the children, how is possible to know what causes this difference? …show more content…

If the treatment effect and experimental both demonstrate variability,it can be assumed that the change in both groups was triggered by one of the threats for internal validity. Maturation threat can perform when psychological or biological alterations happen within subjects. And these alterations may change effects of case study totally or partially.Either history and maturation are more of a issue for long period studies.
The changes which is topic of maturation happen over time and mostly triggered by biological or psychological impact. As a result when a control group is being studied, the researcher can consider these changes as a result of change with
