Internal validity is concerned with the accuracy of the study’s design. The extent of control applied over potential irrelevant variables decide the position of internal validity. Checking for possibly confusing variables lower the possibility for a different explanation for treatment effects and gives more confidence that effects occur because of the independent variable.
There are seven threats for internal validity have been defined: (1) history, (2) maturation, (3) testing, (4) instrumentation, (5) regression, (6) selection, (7) experimental mortality.
History is a threat when other determinants external to the subjects show by advantage of the time goes by. For example, a researcher wants to study the effect of having pets at home on the social behavior of children.Without researcher`s information, the parents of the participant children in the experimental group have started to have children play soccer every Sunday.If there was a difference in social behavior of the children, how is possible to know what causes this difference?

If the treatment effect and experimental both demonstrate variability,it can be assumed that the change in both groups was triggered by one of the threats for internal validity. Maturation threat can perform when psychological or biological alterations happen within subjects. And these alterations may change effects of case study totally or partially.Either history and maturation are more of a issue for long period studies.

When studying human development, it is helpful to understand the main developmental domains (i.e physical, cognitive, emotional and moral) and the ways in which people develop within each domain at certain age stages. Use of psychological theories is also helpful to understand the reasons for this development and the ways in which it manifests at different age stages. An individual’s behavior is made up of actions that joint together make a human distinctive (Renner, Morrissey, Mae, Feldman, & Majors, 2011). The sampling procedures that can be utilized in evaluation research is vast. The selected sampling procedure is important in the consideration of external validity. External validity generalizes the findings to individuals in the study sample with characteristics that are alike (DiClemente et al., 2013). Although, not all research studies will require a sampling procedure that would deliver an external validity.

Lifespan development is essential, as it is the changes that happen to us throughout a person’s lifespan. Our development occurs at ages stages where we develop from infancy till death. This essay will contain my life story to display the domains in 5 age stages in my lifespan development. The domains I will be exploring is in this essay is physical, emotional, cognitive, social, cultural and moral domain. The influence of biological and environmental play a significant role in my development. Development is influenced by nature or nurture and its affect will occur throughout lifespan. The changes that occur during development have stage. Each theorists has stages of development where they display the changes. This essay will explore my development that will support theorist such as Erikson, Vygotsky, Berk, Piaget and other theorist. The age stages of prenatal will display physical and emotional domain, Infancy (0-2) will portray social and emotional domain, young children (2-6) will show cognitive and social domain, middle childhood (6-12) will display socio-cultural and moral domain and adolescence will portray nature vs. nurture and cultural domain. Development is crucial for a healthy wellbeing. As a physiotherapist it is significant to understand development in age stages, as it will aid knowing how young children will react compared to an adolescence who is more development mentally, emotionally, physically, socially and culturally.
Such that, individuals would be observed as they develop from middle childhood to adulthood, in order to describe the changes in personality development and how it has been impacted by the early childhood abuse. Using a longitudinal research method would serve to indicate how individuals with the abuse are alike or different in the way their personality changes over time, and may reveal links between behaviors and experiences the individual had in their early life with their behaviors later on in their life. However, using a longitudinal research design is time-consuming where many of the individuals may choose to drop out of the study, and can be rather expensive to conduct. Additionally, the data may become skewed if the individuals become accustomed to the repeated testing, as it may begin to affect the results. A longitudinal approach could also reflect time of measurement effects, where the age trends are due to the historical period that the data is collected in.
As children grow towards adolescence they go through many stages of development. Child development refers to the stages of physical, cognitive, emotional, social, and language growth that occurs from the birth to beginning of adulthood. All aspects of a child's development may be affected by many different factors, including a poor learning environment, lack of social interaction, cultural background differences, abuse, and loss of a parent. All of the before mentioned examples can affect the child's maturation, "a biological growth process that enables orderly changes in behavior, relatively uninfluenced by experience" (Myers 172). Children grow and mature at very different rates, some faster than others, which is why it is necessary to understand the importance of the different types of child development. Though all parts of child development are important, it is probably language learning that is most important to a child's development as a whole.
A researcher uses an experiment to scientifically test out a hypothesis. In an experiment there are many different factors that are involved. There is the independent variable, which is the cause, it is the one that is being manipulated, and the dependent variable, which is the effect, is the response. When conducting a experiment it is important to make sure that the only thing than can affect the dependent variable is the independent variable. This is known as internal validity. Using random assignment to separate the participants into groups helps eliminate any outside factors, and creates an equal chance for all participants to be apart of the experimental conditions. There are many pros and cons to this type of method. The experimental method creates a strong control of the variables involved in the experiment, which allows an easier determination on cause and effect. If needed, it is fairly easy to replicate an experiment and is less time consuming than other research methods. However there are many downfalls as well. When conducting an experiment the setting of where the experiment is taking place is more artificial which may cause certain behaviors that wouldn’t occur in real life. This is known as external validity, which is the measure of how much the results of a study can be generalized and used in different situations, and people.
